Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has unveiled two new properties in Phu Quoc, Vietnam: the 1,399-room Wyndham Grand Phu Quoc – the largest Wyndham Grand in Asia Pacific – and the 921-room Wyndham Garden Phu Quoc.
The openings of Wyndham Grand Phu Quoc and Wyndham Garden Phu Quoc mark the Company’s first endeavour into Phu Quoc and join a portfolio of 14 other Wyndham hotels throughout Vietnam. The market is a key strategic focus for Wyndham and positions the Company well for the country’s strong recovery in travel, especially as Vietnam welcomed 2.69 million international tourists in the first quarter of 2023, surpassing a third of the country’s target of 8 million by the end of this year, according to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam.
Phu Quoc – Vietnam’s largest island – has become an especially attractive holiday locale in recent years and was named the World’s Leading Nature Island destination at the 2022 World Travel Awards. Contributing in part to Phu Quoc’s booming tourism sector is their welcoming visa policy, which exempts foreigners from entry, exit, and transit visas for up to 30 days. Wyndham is strategically leveraging these factors to further support the growth of this up-and-coming destination.
Under the separate partnership agreements with Phu Quoc Tourism Development and Investment Joint Stock Company for Wyndham Grand Phu Quoc and Newvision Land Co., Ltd for Wyndham Garden Phu Quoc, this announcement is also indicative of strong levels of trust and confidence between Wyndham and its partners.
Ben Schumacher, Vice President of Operations South East Asia & Pacific Rim, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts said, “Vietnam is a critical market for Wyndham in the region and plays an integral role in our global growth strategy. We see tremendous opportunities in emerging destinations like Phu Quoc, which in just a few years, has quickly become one of the country’s premier tourist spots.”
