Following our overview of WeSwap last month, the ambitious currency exchange platform from the UK announced yesterday the launch of its latest API integration, with travel agency Moresand Group Ltd.
WeSwap is a peer-to-peer currency exchange platform built around the ‘sharing’ concept made famous by Uber and Airbnb, where the product or service on offer is international currency. By signing up to the platform users are able to change local money (loaded onto the WeSwap Mastercard) for another currency, of equivalent value, with other ‘WeSwappers’ around the world.
Moresand, who operate brands such as Crystal Travel, Travel Centre UK, Air Travel Guide and Moresand Holidays, is a London-based organisation with a strong presence in China, Philippines as well as in Ghana, South Africa, and across South America, with an annual turnover of over GBP 120 million.
By incorporating the Weswap Connect app into their own platform, Moresand hope to attract a broader client base, lured by the prospect of an easy-to-use, low-cost currency exchange (savings of up to 90% compared with bureaux de change and banks) as well bring added value to existing customers and increase company revenue.
“We’re excited to be… helping our travellers better manage their holiday funds”
Cherrubin Navaratnam, sales director at Moresand Ltd, said: “At Moresand Group we believe in the WeSwap travel money product and recognise the value it can add to our customers’ lives. We’re excited to be driving ancillary revenue for our own business, while helping our travellers better manage and get more out of their holiday funds”.
For Weswap, it’s another step towards its aim of dominating the market, or as Jared Jesner put it: “We genuinely want to be the future of travel money.”
In light of the company’s recent achievement of winning the British Bank Award for Best Travel Money Provide, which saw the new boy triumphing over established players, Money Corp and the Post Office Travel Money Card, this lofty goal could well become a reality.
