A Vietnamese company is planning to build a major new integrated resort in Cambodia.
The Phnom Penh Post, citing a Cambodian government official, reported this week that the US$200 million Empire World City development has been earmarked for the border town of Bavet.
Spread across 50 hectares of land, it will include a hotel, casino and water park. Bavet is located on the Cambodian-Vietnamese border, less than two hours’ drive from Ho Chi Minh City.
“The government has given them approval to begin construction on the development,” Ros Phirun, an official with the Cambodian Ministry of Economy & Finance, was quoted saying by the newspaper.
The project is being developed by Virtue Resources through its subsidiary VR Capital Holding, which also has a hotel development on the Vietnamese island of Phu Quoc.
