Vietnam Airlines will begin three weekly nonstop flights on December 7, 2023.
The announcement was made in Perth on the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Australia.
Flights to Perth will be operated thrice weekly by the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
Flight VN791 will leave Ho Chi Minh City at 3:50 pm on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday and arrive in Perth at 11:05 pm on the same day. Flight VN790 will depart Perth at 00:50 am on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday and arrive in Ho Chi Minh City at 6:10 am the following day.
“Securing this new direct flight between Vietnam and Perth opens up an abundance of opportunities between the two countries and represents a whole new inbound visitor market for Western Australia’s industry, tourism, and hospitality sectors–supporting jobs and boosting the economy,” said Western Australia Premier Roger Cook.
The news solidifies crucial air links within the Southeast Asia area, with whom we have a strong connection and track record, and my government is quite happy about this success and the expanding potential in the future.”
Before the pandemic, Vietnam was Perth’s tenth-largest overseas market and the second largest without direct flights from Perth. Meanwhile, Perth is Vietnam’s third largest market in Australia.
Thanks to the new nonstop Ho Chi Minh City-Perth route, Vietnam Airlines will operate 23 round-trip flights between Vietnam and Australia each week. Vietnam Airlines will operate five nonstop flights to Australia: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City – Melbourne; Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City – Sydney; and Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City – Perth. All flights are operated by wide-body aircraft such as the Airbus A350 or the Boeing 787.
