V Retreats, the luxury division of VOIhotels, has refreshed and reopened its two, 5-star, waterfront luxury hotels in Taormina, Sicily for the season this month. Atlantis Bay debuts newly renovated rooms, including 5 brand new luxury suites, and redesigned common lounge areas, all overlooking the private Bay of Sirens. Sister property, Mazzarò Sea Palace which is just down the waterfront, but is set on a sandy beach on Mazzarò Bay, has reimagined dining concepts, with a new gourmet restaurant BLUM uniquely set on two small terraces facing the Bay, and a new look for its signature restaurant, Armònia.
Both hotels are positioned along the Mediterranean Sea in the splendid setting of Taormina, in the most exclusive part of Sicily, the setting of the popular HBO series, The White Lotus, and a strategic point for exploring Sicily. Mazzarò Sea Palace and the Atlantis Bay hotels offer stunning views and have private access to the sea. Both have special architecture thanks to their settings: built on cliffs, between the sky and the earth. Their large terraces offer enchanting views from the rooms, restaurants and shared spaces.
Atlantis Bay
Just off a renovation, Atlantis Bay is built into the hillside’s volcanic rock and set on a stunning private cove called Mermaid’s Bay – one of the most picturesque spots on the Sicilian coast. Its waterfront restaurant, newly refreshed seafront deck, pool, fitness center and rooms all face the private cove with expansive windows and terraces to soak up the views of the quiet setting.
For the 2023 season, which opened on April 1, Atlantis Bay offers more luxury Suite product for discerning guests. Of the hotel’s 71 rooms, 13 are newly renovated into Deluxe Suites for the 2023 season, and 5 standard rooms were expanded to create larger Sea View Suites. Modern Italian design and tranquil colors permeate the interiors meant to compliment the views.
Mazzarò Sea Palace
Mazzarò Sea Palace also enjoys a stunning setting facing the Mediterranean Sea, but this resort, enjoys a sandy beachfront with lounge beds and a view bookended by large volcanic rocks rising from the sea. Each of the rooms have large terraces facing the sea, many with their own plunge pools.
For the 2023 season, Mazzarò has a new gourmet restaurant, BLUM, set alongside the pool on two small terraces facing the sea and offering a refined menu based on local Sicilian ingredients and opening in May. The new restaurant joins the hotel’s signature Armònia restaurant, which enjoys a new look this season. And along with its Almarè bar, each overlook the bay of Mazzarò from splendid panoramic terraces.
All the gastronomic experiences at Mazzarò are helmed by the young and talented Chef Riccardo Fazio, whose cuisine presents local dishes and ingredients in new ways, always with the sea as the main player. For example, a tuna tartare starter is prepared with Bronte pistachio powder, saffron blood orange chips and red onion ice cream; and a cannoli is re-invented stuffed with creamed cod, cheese and pepper fondue, crispy bacon.
Both the Mazzarò Sea Palace and Atlantis Bay are located on the sea, minutes from the enchanting old town of Taormina, which sits on top of the hill. The resorts are perfect locations for sea lovers. From each, the cable car carrying visitors up to the medieval town center is just steps away and part of experiencing the destination.
