United Airlines announced the launch of its 2023 summer schedule, which includes new service to three cities – Malaga, Spain; Stockholm, Sweden; and Dubai, UAE – as well as six additional flights to some of Europe’s most popular destinations, including Rome, Paris, Barcelona, London, Berlin, and Shannon. Next summer, United will operate to 37 cities in Europe, Africa, India, and the Middle East, more than any other U.S. airline combined.
United observed unprecedented demand for travel to Europe during the summer peak, up 20% from the previous year. It is committed to expanding its network to meet continuing demand strength.
Along with new flights, United will continue to operate nine routes launched last summer, including direct flights between Newark and Nice, Denver and Munich, Boston and London Heathrow, Chicago and Zurich, and Chicago and Milan, as well as flights to four destinations not served by any other North American airline, including Amman, Jordan, Azores, Portugal, Palma de Mallorca, Spain, and Tenerife, Spain.
Malaga – Newark
With additional direct flights between New York/Newark and Malaga, United adds a sixth Spanish destination to its worldwide network. Beginning 31 May 2023, passengers will be able to experience Spain’s Mediterranean coast with three weekly flights to Malaga on a Boeing 757-200.
Newark – Dubai
United will begin daily direct flights between Newark and Dubai on a Boeing 777-200ER on 25 March 2023 as part of its historic commercial deal with Emirates. Customers may then fly on Emirates or its sister airline, flydubai, to over 100 cities, providing them with more possibilities to connect around the Middle East than ever before.
Stockholm – Newark
United will resume service to Stockholm from Newark on 27 May 2023 for the first time since 2019. In 2005, United began servicing Stockholm, which residents lovingly call “beauty on the water.” With daily flights on a Boeing 757-200, United will reconnect passengers with this culturally rich and dynamic capital city.
San Francisco – Rome
United expands its industry-leading European network from San Francisco with daily flights to Rome beginning on25 May 2023 on a Boeing 777-200ER. United is the only U.S. airline that offers direct flights to Europe from its San Francisco hub. It will offer non-stop flights to seven popular European cities next summer. United continues to fly to more Italian cities from the United States, with flights to Rome, Milan, Venice, and Naples.
Shannon – Chicago
Beginning 25 May 2023, United will offer new daily flights from Chicago to Shannon, Ireland, providing travellers with more alternatives to visit some of the country’s most picturesque places, including Limerick and Galway. United is the only U.S. carrier with direct flights to Shannon from Newark. It also has direct flights to Dublin from Chicago, Newark, and Washington Dulles. This flight will be operated using a Boeing 757-200.
Washington Dulles – Berlin, Germany
United will launch a capital-to-capital service between Washington, D.C. and Berlin on 25 May 2023. United will be the only carrier to operate non-stop flights between these two cities, with daily flights on a Boeing 767-400ER.
Chicago – Barcelona
Beginning 25 May 2023, United will expand its best-in-class European network from Chicago with new direct, daily flights to Barcelona on a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. United will fly more to 14 European destinations from Chicago next summer than any other airline.
Additional Flights to Paris and London
Next summer, United will have 23 daily flights to London Heathrow, with a second daily route between Los Angeles and London Heathrow beginning on 25 March on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. United has more flights and business class seats to London from New York and the west coast than any other U.S. carrier. Beginning next summer, all United flights to London Heathrow will include all-aisle access Polaris and Premium Plus seats. United’s latest London expansion includes more flights from Newark, San Francisco, and Denver, as well as new flights from Boston.
United will also add a second daily flight between Washington Dulles and Paris Charles de Gaulle on 2 June, which will be operated by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. Year-round flights to Paris are now available from Newark, Washington Dulles, Chicago, and San Francisco.
