UK’s flight cancellation rate during H1 has hit the lowest level since 2019
With the summer now upon us, Cirium have analysed the number of flight cancellations from UK airports in H1 (January – June), to see how these compare to previous years.
Cirium Data – UK cancellations
- In the first half of 2023, 6,665 flights departing UK airports were cancelled*, equating to 1.53% of all scheduled departures.
- This means the UK’s flight cancellation rate** during H1 has hit the lowest level since 2019.
- In H1 2022, although the UK saw fewer cancellations (6,367), they represented a larger proportion of all departures – giving the UK a flight cancellation rate 1.82%.
- However, the UK’s flight cancellation rate remains double that of H1 2019, when only 0.75% of departures were cancelled.
