Uber is strengthening its travel offering with the launch of Uber Reserve at several major airports in the UK. The new offering will enable airport travellers to reserve an Uber up to 90 days in advance to pick them up at London Heathrow, Birmingham and Manchester airports. The launch follows the introduction of flight booking on the Uber app, which was announced in May.
The new product has been designed with airport usage in mind, allowing for flight tracking to be shown live within the Uber App, automatically adjusting driver arrival time where needed for a seamless pickup experience. Uber Reserve will also extend driver wait times at Airports to 60 minutes, providing riders with peace of mind as they disembark from their flight and make their way through security. Uber Reserve is seeing huge popularity with UK riders, growing 120% from September 2022 to September 2023
Uber facilitates millions of journeys to the airport every month, with trips to UK airports rising by 37% in Q3 2023 vs Q3 of 2022. Uber’s flight booking functionality rolled out to UK users in May 2023, taking riders to new heights by allowing domestic and international flights to be booked from the Uber app. The ‘Directions to pickup’ feature further assists travellers by providing user-friendly maps and guides for those looking for Uber pickup points at some of the world’s busiest airports.
Flights on Uber joined existing transport options including Uber Rides, Uber Boat by Thames Clippers, train journeys across the National Rail network, Eurostar and coach travel with National Express and megabus, as Uber continues to reimagine the way people travel.
Andrew Brem, General Manager at Uber UKsaid “We know that Uber Reserve is an incredibly popular and trustworthy feature for travellers looking to begin their journey and get to the airport on time. This new offering will help create that same seamless experience for travellers arriving back in the UK via Heathrow, Manchester and Birmingham airports ”.
Uber’s new feature will allow for a true door-to-door experience for air travellers, with all legs of the journey being manageable in Uber’s smart travel itinerary product.
