The ubiquitous taxi service still wants you to get from A to B but in a new way.
Customers will now be able to book and hire a vehicle through the Uber app, picking their self-driven ride up at hundreds of participating locations.
The new package, a partnership with rental operator CarTrawler, went online last week in the UK, with pick-up spots across the country and in Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the United State.
Users simply need to select the ‘Rent’ tile on the Uber app, then provide date and location details of their desired car. They’ll then be matched with a vehicle, ready for getting the keys and driving off. In an effort to attract business for every booking made via Uber Rent users can enjoy £10 off the cab trip to get them to their rental vehicle.
“Uber Rent will not only provide a seamless and efficient booking experience but offer Uber Credits back on every booking”, said Andrew Brem, General Manager at Uber.
Peter O’Donovan, COO, CarTrawler, added: “We enable our partners to become one-stop travel shops through innovative technology, the widest customer choice, and compelling loyalty solutions.
“This closely aligns with Uber and their goals to become the ultimate travel app through offering the broadest range of travel options coupled with a best-in-class customer experience”.
Users who book through the Uber app can cancel up to 48 hours before collection.
Bookings can even be made right up to the time of pick-up, but it’s recommended to do so at least 24 hours in advance to get the car you want at the best price.
