Amadeus has announced that the Dutch OTA Travix is now part of Amadeus’ NDC-X programme. NDC-X was unleashed upon the industry during February 2018, with the aim to bring all the Amadeus projects and activities under one umbrella concept.
It is, as described by the company, “the evolution of Amadeus’ travel platform which will bring together all relevant content – including air, hotel, car, and insurance – from any source to be distributed via any user interface or device”.
Travix will be responsible for directing the design of a new NDC-based Amadeus Web Services platform, which will be rolled out to agencies with the goal of simplifying the process of researching, ordering and payment of flights and other products and services.
Commenting on the partnership, John Mangelaars (above), CEO of Travix said: “In a diverse content world, it’s crucial to have one single end-to-end process for booking and servicing NDC and non-NDC content. With NDC, we hope to have richer airline content for our customers, ultimately helping us deliver more personalized and differentiated travel experiences.
We’re excited to work alongside Amadeus and be part of the NDC-X program to drive progress for the online travel agency community.”
The first phase will see Amadeus and Travix identify and develop an efficient system to give online merchants access to NDC and non-NDC content. This will be followed by phase two which will hone in on the service needs of the agents once a booking has been made, such as changes, cancellations or adding ancillaries.
“The consistency, transparency, and choice travellers are looking for”
Gianni Pisanello, vice president of NDC-X program at Amadeus, added: “Our objective is to make NDC content easy to access and to compare with other content so travel sellers around the world, and also travel providers, can provide the consistency, transparency, and choice travellers are looking for.
“As part of our NDC-X program, we are working with several airlines and travel sellers to define solutions that make NDC work for all travel players on a global scale. We’re excited to be working with Travix as part of this programme.”
