Travelpayouts, the digital affiliate partnership platform that brings together trusted brands and content creators, has confirmed that the travel affiliate marketing space recovered more quickly than the rest of the industry in 2022 based on its own experience.
In Travelpayout’s case this has meant that during 2022 payouts to content creators in the form of commissions from travel brands for leads that generated bookings has doubled. This meant that the top-three affiliate partners earned USD4,582,240, USD200,250 and USD190,443 respectively, whilst the biggest one-off commission was USD2,209 when someone booked a hotel for USD36,100 via an affiliate web-site.
This year’s strong growth brings to USD40,000,000 the total paid out to content creators since the brand set out to offer content creators access to exclusive tools and the best travel affiliate programs back in 2012.
Meanwhile the platform has seen strong growth in the number of travel brands signing up, with over 100+ leading travel brands now using the platform, whilst at the same time higher levels of interest from affiliates, having now passed the 360,000 affiliates landmark.
Throughout 2022 Travelpayouts noticed two particular stand-out areas of growth, the first being the tours and activities vertical, where the recovery was strongest and quickest; and the second was in the rise of travel subscription services, with more players entering the market and handling fast-growing volumes.
Leading travel brands working with Travelpayouts include Booking.com, Hilton, OYO, Expedia, and Get Your Guide, meaning content creators have access to flights, hotels, car rental, insurance, and tours & activities and on average are able to gain their first payout only 80 days after first signing up.
Ivan Baidin, CEO of Travelpayouts, comments: “With the wider travel industry recovering in the second half of las year naturally you’d expect affiliate bookings to recover too, but we saw it come back stronger than the wider industry. We feel that this is because both brands and content creators have begun to truly understand the cost-effective, additional revenues that can be gained for relatively low-levels of effort at a time when driving incremental revenues is the name of the game.
“I’d like to thank all of our affiliates and partners for their loyalty and trust during a few tough years and share with them in celebrating what has been an excellent recovery. Equally I would also like to thank the whole Travelpayouts team for their hard work and creativity in making us the world’s premier affiliate marketing program. Watch this space for more great news in 2023.”
