Tokyo has added new modules to its e-learning platform to celebrate Japan’s reopening and to encourage traveller dispersal outside of the bustling city limits.
The training programme, which launched in September 2022, now provides further modules with details on post-Covid recommendations and new activities as a result of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 legacy that international visitors can now enjoy, such as behind-the-scenes tours of the Japan National Stadium.
In addition, the e-learning platform holds a wealth of information about the city, where long-standing traditions intersect with ever-changing areas and trailblazing culture. Be it food, art, entertainment, architecture or nature, the training will help agents discover countless ways to feed information into sales.
Travel to Japan is set to be popular in 2023. This year, Tokyo has a number of new hotels and attractions opening, with eight new properties including Bulgari Hotel Tokyo and Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya, as well as a new interactive teamLab museum.
Industry professionals who complete all six Tokyo online training modules by the end of February will go into a draw to win furoshiki Japanese wrapping cloths and Tokyo-branded goodies. Agents can sign up for the training here.
Earlier this month the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, held an exclusive Tokyo City Promotion agent briefing in London. Industry attendees had the opportunity to meet with accommodation, airline, rail, ground handler, and experience providers from Tokyo as well as attend cultural experiences, such as a tea ceremony and Wagashi Making.
Tokyo announced at the event that they will run marketing partnerships with Expedia, British Airways, and InsideJapan Tours from February to March 2023 to drive consumer demand for Tokyo holidays in the UK market
