These workshops were held in Beijing, Shenzhen, Chengdu, and Shanghai to regain Chinese arrivals lost over the past three years.
The Tourism Seychelles China office successfully completed the first trade workshops with leading agents from Beijing, Tianjin, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Suzhou, and Hangzhou. The workshops began on May 26 in Beijing and continued in Shenzhen and Chengdu on May 29 and 31, respectively, with the final event held in Shanghai on June 2.
The Director for China, Mr. Jean-Luc Lai-Lam, and Senior Marketing Executive, Mr. Sen Yu, promoted the destination’s unique selling points and newly opened properties in Seychelles since 2019.
The Seychelles tourism trade business was well represented by several partners.
These included Emirates and Ethiopian Airlines as airline partners, and hotel properties represented by Constance Lemuria, Constance Ephelia, Savoy, and Coral Strand. The Destination Management Companies (DMCs) included 7° South, Cheung Kong Travel, Welcome Travel, SeyHi, and Luxury Travel.
Each workshop featured a comprehensive presentation on the destination by Tourism Seychelles and an overview of the Seychelles flight network by the airline partners. The workshops also included open floor discussions and meetings, allowing the Chinese travel agents present to interact with any trade partners on site.
Commenting on the significance of the workshops, the Director for China stated: “The role of the Seychelles trade partners in the Chinese market, like many others, is critical. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that Chinese travel agents are well-versed in our destination, products and services. In 2023, Tourism Seychelles plans to continue meeting with Chinese agents throughout the country to rekindle the Chinese market and increase Chinese arrivals this year.”
