Tourism Malaysia holds teaser event for its Karnival Cuti-Cuti Malaysia 2024
The initial salvo for the tourism carnival offered over 100 discounted travel packages
Tourism Malaysia held a teaser event for its upcoming Karnival Cuti-Cuti Malaysia [The Malaysian Holiday Carnival] (KCCM) at Kompleks Kraf in Kuala Lumpur last 8th October.
The event is a precursor to the actual carnival slated for 25 to 27 October at the same venue.
Over 100 discounted travel packages were offered at the pre-launch with prices dropping by 15 to 50 percent.
According to deputy minister of tourism Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, KCCM 2024 aims to boost domestic tourism activities through the sale of tourism packages directly to consumers in addition to encouraging Malaysians to plan holidays within the country.
Khan said: “We want to help improve the circumstances of local entrepreneurs, as we have involved more than 100 industry representatives consisting of state tourism departments, travel agencies, owners of tourism products, hotels, theme parks and handicraft entrepreneurs. This will also contribute to the increase in public visits to Kompleks Kraf.”
A craft-centric collaboration
This year’s KCC is a collaboration between Tourism Malaysia and Kraftangan Malaysia, an organisation dedicated to preserving traditional arts and crafts.
With the theme Crafting Holidays, the KCCM offers tourists an opportunity to plan their vacations whilst immersing themselves in traditional arts, crafts, and activities focused on Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage.
The event also combined exhibitions, sales of holiday packages, handicraft products, as well as cultural and culinary demonstrations.
One of the main attractions at KCCM 2024 previewed during the event was Pasar Saloma, which will serve as a trading platform for small- and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) and is reminiscent of a classic Malay village or kampong.
That said, Pasar Saloma will have a nostalgic theme, where more than 30 stalls will feature traders in traditional dress offering a diverse range of items, including traditional delicacies and unique products that have been loved for generations.
A diverse range of experiences
Domestic tourism offerings presented at the pre-launch included ecotourism destinations, cultural experiences, as well as more adventurous activities.
At the actual KCCM later this month, visitors can also enjoy holiday offers that cover popular destinations across Malaysia, as well as unique activities such as heritage tours, water sports, scuba diving, bird-watching, stargazing, and other outdoor activities.
