Tourism Malaysia’s office in India joins the Malaysian people as they get ready to celebrate the 67th anniversary of Malaysian independence on Saturday, 31 August.
The agency’s director in New Delhi Ahmad Johanif Mohd Ali declared in a statement: “In these 67 years of independence, Malaysia has not only preserved its rich cultural heritage but has also embraced modernity and innovation.”
Ali added that he and his team continue to honour the spirit of unity and determination that has driven Malaysia forward. Indeed, the country’s vibrant tourism sector stands as a testament to its ability to welcome and enchant visitors from all over the world.

Over nearly seven decades, Malaysia has transformed from a newly independent country into one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic and prosperous nations.
With its rich cultural heritage, diverse population, and a strong economy, Malaysia stands as a beacon of progress in the region. The nation has made significant strides in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and tourism, becoming a key player on the global stage.
A roadmap for tourism success
As part of the nation’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its tourism sector, Tourism Malaysia has unveiled its strategic roadmap for Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
This initiative aims to attract 35.6 million tourists and generate RM 147.1 Billion in receipts, reinforcing Malaysia’s position as a top global destination.
The strategy focuses on creating demand, increasing traffic, and prioritising key target markets, ensuring Malaysia continues to shine on the international stage.
