Tourism Australia appoints Jennifer Doig as regional general manager for South and South East Asia
Tourism Australia has announced the appointment of Jennifer Doig to the role of regional general manager South and South East Asia. Doig, who brings a wealth of marketing experience in the Asia region to the role, was most recently working for Dubai Tourism as Director of Global Campaigns.
Reporting to Tourism Australia’s Executive General Manager, Eastern Markets & Aviation, Andrew Hogg, Doig will commence in the Singapore-based role on 16 September 2024.
“We are delighted to be welcoming Jennifer Doig to our business at a critical time as we continue to rebuild tourism to Australia back to 2019 levels in our key markets across South and South East Asia,” Hogg said.
“Encouragingly, of our key markets in the region, India has already exceeded 2019 levels of visitation whilst Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia continue to steadily work their way back.
“With 20 years of Asia-based marketing experience, we are excited to be welcoming Jennifer Doig to lead Tourism Australia’s trade and consumer marketing strategies in South and South East Asia to help drive continued engagement and visitation from the region to Australia,” Hogg said.
Speaking about the appointment, Doig said she was thrilled to be joining Tourism Australia at this critical time for Australian tourism.
“Tourism Australia sets the industry standard for marketing excellence, and I’m excited to work closely with the team and key partners to further strengthen the country’s reputation as a premier leisure and events destination,” Doig said.
“I look forward to leveraging my experience in tourism and media to help boost visitation from the strategically important markets of South and South East Asia.”
As the Regional General Manager for South and South East Asia, Doig’s role includes driving trade and consumer marketing activity with the teams in Tourism Australia’s key markets in the region including India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
In 2019, Australia welcomed almost 2 million visitors annually from South and South East Asia. By 2028 there are forecast to be more than 2.7 million visitors from markets across South and South East Asia* to Australia.
Prior to joining Dubai Tourism in 2019, Ms Doig’s previous roles include working for global and international brands including Sony Pictures Entertainment, Turner Broadcasting, Ogilvy and Edelman.
