Three-quarters of Americans put-off flying for vacations
A new survey by CouponBirds of 1,040 U.S. adults about their movie-going habits and behaviors. Aerospace company, Boeing, has had its reputation tarnished in recent years after two 737 MAX jets crashes in 2018 and 2019, and an aircraft which lost a rear door plug mid-flight in January 2024.
Following this, in March and April, two whistleblowers who had raised concerns about the safety of Boeing’s planes both passed away in separate incidents.
The latest Boeing controversy sparked an interest in whether travelers would be wary of flying in one of their planes. A new survey by CouponBirds of 1,040 Americans has revealed that three quarters (76.4%) are put off booking a vacation due to potentially flying Boeing.
Only 7.3% were unaware of any news, and only 18.2% of those surveyed said that they wouldn’t be cautious when boarding a Boeing flight.
Parents are more nervous about flying with Boeing
The results of this study found that 78.1% of people with children would be cautious about flying on a Boeing plane, compared to 64.8% of people without children. This suggests that people who travel with children are more conscious of the risks and may be more likely to put off booking a trip.
88.6% of parents also think that Boeing should ground all of their planes and conduct an investigation to ensure they are all safe.
How Boeing could put minds at ease
When asked how travellers would feel about a Boeing grounding a plane for a safety check, most people revealed that they’d view that as a positive. A total of 73.1% of those asked said that ‘they’d view it positively’. Only 2.6% of people said they would see this as a negative thing.
The results of this study suggest that Boeing may need to put their aircraft under safety checks and do more to give travellers peace of mind.
