GERMANO ROLLERO has become Etihad Airways’ new general manager for China, based in Beijing. With extensive experience in the leisure and corporate travel sectors, Rollero has previously held senior roles with CITS American Express GBT, Air China and Prudential Financial.
KATHY ORNER has been announced as Carlson Wagonlit Travel’s (CWT) new chief risk officer, responsibility for client privacy, disaster recovery and crisis management. The move marks a promotion for Ms Orner, who initially joined CWT in 2006 as chief information security officer.
THOMAS GASSNER has been appointed general manager of the new Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara, which is scheduled to open this year. A German national, Gassner joined AccorHotels in 2004 and most recently served as hotel manager of Pullman properties in Jakarta and Bali.
NIGEL TOVEY has been appointed by Compass Hospitality to manage its new-build beachfront property, Ananda Hua Hin Resort & Spa, which will become the first Ananda-branded resort when it opens in April. Tovey has 35 years’ experience, the last 25 of which have been spent in Thailand.
RAY PETTS has been named as the new director of global sales for Freedom Road Destinations, a DMC specialising in inbound travel to China. The appointment of Petts, who has previously worked for Tucan Travel and Buffalo Tours, comes as the company makes a push into the Australian market.
SHEENA SHEE has become sales & marketing director at the refurbished Pan Pacific Perth. Ms Shee moves to the hotel following six years as head of international markets at Tourism Western Australia, responsible for North Asia. She has also worked at hotels in Singapore, Vietnam and China.
