Thai Airways is capitalising on the increase in international travel and Australia’s upcoming summer holiday season by increasing the frequency of its flights between Melbourne and Bangkok from once per day to twice per day beginning on 1 December. With the return to twice-daily flights, the Thai flag airline is operating at its pre-pandemic levels.
It’s another indication of how popular Thailand’s vibrant capital city has become with visitors from around the world, including India, the European Union, and the United Kingdom.
According to Melbourne Airport, Thai’s schedule would “resume to pre-pandemic levels less than 12 months after borders reopened.”
“Thai Airways is one of Melbourne’s longest-serving airline partners and was one of the first international airlines to return to Melbourne following the opening of our international borders,” the airport said in a statement.
The following are the two daily flight operating schedules between Melbourne and Bangkok.
Melbourne to Bangkok
- TG462: departs Melbourne at 12.30 am and arrives in Bangkok at 5.40 am
- TG466: departs Melbourne at 9.30 am, and arrives in Bangkok at 2.40 pm
Bangkok to Melbourne
- TG461: departs Bangkok at 8.20 am and arrives in Melbourne at 9.20 pm
- TG465: departs Bangkok at 6.20 pm and arrives in Melbourne at 7.20 am the following day
The services will be operated using the new Airbus A350, with connectivity to other south-east Asian, Indian, and European destinations.
Thai Airways, which continues to operate under a formal Rehabilitation Plan, is also looking for a new CEO.
