TAP Portugal is extending its popular Stopover Programme by now allowing passengers to book flights with a stay up to 72 hours in Lisbon and Porto when their final destinations are the Azores, Madeira or the Algarve at no extra cost.
TAP is proud to be collaborating with a network of more than 150 partners in Lisbon and Porto, to offer its Stopover customers exclusive prices in hotels, a free bottle of Portuguese wine in restaurants and free experiences, such as tuk-tuk rides, visits to museums, dolphin watching in the River Sado and food tastings, among others.
“We are inviting our passengers in transit to stay and visit Portugal, now doubling the number of destinations they can discover in our country”, said Fernando Pinto, TAP CEO. “Bringing tourists to Portugal was always one of TAP’s main goals, and by extending the programme to the Azores, Madeira and the Algarve, the company is further strengthening this goal,” he added.
TAP launched its Portugal Stopover in summer 2016, originally to encourage long haul passengers in transit in Lisbon or Porto to explore more of the beautiful and diverse country. Over 40,000 passengers have benefited using the TAP Stopover Programme to date.
The extension of the programme reinforces TAP’s already announced strengthening of its Portugal services for 2017. As of June, the frequency of flights from Lisbon to Faro (the Algarve) will increase from three to four per day, and operations to Ponta Delgada (Azores) will increase from two to three per day. Likewise, TAP will improve its offering to Madeira this summer, with eight daily flights to Funchal from Lisbon and two from Porto, and five weekly flights to Porto Santo departing Lisbon.
