After the huge spike of coronavirus cases over the holidays, Japan has declared a state of emergency in Tokyo and the surrounding prefectures of Kanagawa, Saitama, and Chiba.

Japan will be suspending the Go To Travel campaign that subsidises domestic tourism as COVID cases continue to rise in the country.

Despite the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, the Japanese government plans to keep funding GoTo Travel campaign to promote domestic tourism.
