The St. Kitts Tourism Authority (SKTA), in partnership with Park Hyatt St. Kitts and Montpelier Plantation & Beach Nevis and representatives of the Nevis hospitality industry, hosted a travel agent dinner earlier this month with the aim of boosting ‘destination awareness’ of the twin Caribbean islands.
Held at the La Belle Epoque restaurant in Knutsford, Cheshire, on 12 July the dinner was the second of three events put on by SKTA as part of the association’s 2018 drive promoting the islands as a holiday location for the holidaymakers of the UK – which features an agent incentive of up to £20 (USD 26.25) per booking.
Travel agencies taking part included a mix of major tour operators, independent and homeworking agents, with names such as British Airways Holidays, Cresta Travel, Lusso, Travel Counsellors, Moorend Travel, Travelbag and Hays Travel in attendance.
The evening was a mixture of food and industry chat as employees of Park Hyatt St. Kitts and Montpelier Plantation & Beach Nevis mingled and networked with the TAs outlining the benefits of trips to the islands – well known as an old-school haunt of well-heeled visitors such as Princess Margaret and numerous stars from Hollywood’s Golden Age
Wrapping up the event was a prize draw of a twin-centre St. Kitts & Nevis holiday – three nights at the Park Hyatt and four nights stay Montpelier Plantation – which was won by Sandra Joseph from Hays Travel.
“This incentive will give some of our most hardworking agents the opportunity to experience St. Kitts”
Racquel Brown, CEO of SKTA, said: “We really appreciate all of the hard work that our UK travel agents put into bringing visitors to St. Kitts. We feel that it is important to reward those who are consistently inspiring Brits to come to our beautiful island – this incentive will give some of our most hardworking agents the opportunity to experience St. Kitts and everything it has to offer, first-hand.”
By logging package holidays to St Kitts through the St. Kitts Rewards Programme, the five top UK travel agents could win a place on a four-night fam trip, taking place on 10-14 November 2018. Bookings made from 1 January 2018 are eligible and must be logged by 30 September 2018.
