Swedish amusement park Liseberg wins THEA Classic Award
At a a prize ceremony in Los Angeles, Liseberg received a THEA Classic Award. This marks the third time for Liseberg over the awards 30-year history, and the second time in just two years. In the amusement park industry, a THEA Award holds the same prestige as an Academy Award, does in the film industry.
Liseberg was recognized with a THEA Classic Award, presented by the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA). This award celebrates outstanding attractions, technologies, and guest experiences that have stood the test of time and become beloved classics within the amusement park industry. The award was given with the following motivation (shortened version):
“In the world of timeless elegance, some things never lose their luster. This sentiment perfectly encapsulates this year’s Classic Award: Liseberg. Founded a hundred years ago from the celebration of Gothenburg’s 300th anniversary, what began as a simple festival has blossomed into a beacon of wonder and excitement on the global stage. Liseberg isn’t just a theme park; it’s a testament to the power of dreams, entrepreneurship, courage, and a strong commitment to service.
Liseberg has masterfully woven a tapestry of enchantment through its diverse attractions, lush gardens, immersive recreation zones, exhibitions, and a calendar brimming with seasonal festivities. Their vision and commitment to storytelling goes beyond mere entertainment—it’s about resilience, about facing challenges head-on together. Their respect for every individual and their core values set a benchmark for excellence, teamwork, empathy, and transparancy, even in difficult times. Liseberg’s story is a testament to what can be achieved when people unite under shared goals.”
With the THEA Classic Award, Liseberg joins the exclusive company of world-renowned parks such as Europa-Park in Germany, Puy du Fou in France, and the San Diego Zoo in the USA. Additionally, some of Disney’s most iconic attractions have also received this prestigious prize.
Andreas Andersen, CEO of Liseberg, expressed gratitude for the award:
“We are incredibly thankful for this recognition, which is a validation for the fantastic work done by all my colleagues every day, all year-round.”
The THEA Awards are presented by the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA), an international organization representing the world’s leading creators, developers, designers, and producers of places and experiences.
“Especially this year, after a very dark winter, this acknowledgment from our industry peers means a great deal. Liseberg remains a beacon of joy and inspiration—a park that continues to enrich the global community of amusement and theme parks”, Andersen says.
