Sunvil has launched its 2018 Azores programme, featuring tailor-made trips and activities on the Portuguese archipelago.
The operator’s adventure ideas available on the nine islands – which benefit from the warmer water of the Gulf Stream and cetacean visitors – are:
Canyoning
Guided by experts, this activity is available on São Miguel, Santa Maria and São Jorge, each of which offers a variety of canyoning routes. Price from £66 pp.
Rock Climbing
On Sao Miguel, with routes of varying difficulties, and led by an instructor, this challenge is suitable beginners and experts. After the climb, relax in nearby natural thermal pools in the ocean. Price from £38 pp.
Dolphin spotting
Available on the islands of Faial and São Miguel, guests can spot the Common, Bottlenose, Risso and Atlantic Spotted Dolphins, among others, in the company of expert guides. Price from £66 pp.
Kayaking
First-timers can take advantage of the ideal conditions at Praia da Vitória Bay on Terceira, stopping to swim in three locations and finishing on the beach with a warming Azorean tea. Alternatively, São Jorge offers a variety of kayak tour routes, which combine stunning scenery with opportunities to visit coffee plantations or to bathe in natural rock pools. Price from £67 pp.
Hiking on São Miguel
The seven-night Walking Inside Volcanoes includes four nights in the four-star Terra Nostra Garden Hotel, situated next to the botanical park, and three nights at the Azoris Royal Garden Hotel in Ponta Delgada.
