Star Cruises reveals details of Shanghai season

SuperStar Virgo

Star Cruises has revealed plans to homeport one of its cruise ships in Shanghai this summer.

From July to October 2017, the 75,300-tonne, the 13-deck SuperStar Virgo cruise ship will spend its first season based in Shanghai, operating a series of cruises to ports in Japan.

The six-day, five-night ‘Facets of Japan’ itineraries will call at Kagoshima and Kobe, offering Chinese passengers the chance to visit attractions including Kyoto and Mount Sakurajima.

Ang Moo Lim, president of Star Cruises, said the deployment demonstrates his company’s “commitment and support to continue to grow the Chinese cruise industry”.

“With the fastest cruise ship in Asia, Star Cruises is excited to offer an innovative new Japan itinerary that will allow our guests to experience the many facets of the country,” he added.

This Shanghai deployment builds up Genting Hong Kong’s presence in mainland China, following the recent launch of Dream Cruises’ inaugural homeport season in Guangzhou.
