SpiceJet boosts links to Gujarat

SpiceJet’s Boeing 737

SpiceJet has announced plans to expand its operations in Gujarat with the re-introduction of its services between Delhi and Surat.

Effective 26 March 2017, the low-cost carrier will operate twice weekly flights on the route, with departures from Delhi at 0825 and 1635 and return services leaving Surat at 1035 and 1845. Surat becomes SpiceJet’s second destination in Gujarat, following Ahmedabad.

“While the year 2016 has witnessed a sharp growth in air passenger traffic, a large count today still remains untapped who travel from tier two cities,” explained Shilpa Bhatia, SpiceJet’s senior vice president of commercial.

“Surat being an important economic hub of Gujarat, has always been a critical market for us – especially from the point of view of serving our business travellers. The twin daily flight service will offer immense flexibility to the corporate travellers on the SpiceJet network.”

SpiceJet’s fortunes are currently on a significant upward trajectory; the airline recently placed an order with Boeing for 205 new aircraft.
