SkiYodl expands further into Europe with seven new locations in Switzerland
Travel tech startup SkiYodl is gearing up to serve Britain’s thriving ski market for a second season with exciting news of further expansion into Europe, with seven new Swiss ski locations added to its innovative ‘tech-first, ski-second’ website.
Founded in 2019, SkiYodl is the fastest growing online marketplace specialising in bringing self-catered ski accommodation to the British travel market. With more than 2,500 self-catered properties listed in 24 resorts across France and now Switzerland, SkiYodl’s unique ‘live like a local’ ethos has seen ski enthusiasts flock to the site in search of the ultimate ski experiences they simply can’t find elsewhere.
Comprising a mix of some of the most famous ski resorts, along with less well-known but no less beautiful locations, the new resorts now featuring on SkiYodl are located in Zermatt, Wengen, Saas-Fee, Engelberg, Nendaz, Crans-Montana and Verbier.
“Following a hugely successful 2022/23 season, expanding our reach into Switzerland was a natural step for us and one which we know our customers have been eagerly anticipating,” explains Oli, who spent ten years running a ski school on the slopes of Verbier, where he tutored a number of high profile clients. “The addition of these new locations underpins SkiYodl’s continued growth and commitment bringing yet more ultra-authentic ski holiday experiences to British skiers.”
Made up of ski-loving individuals located across the globe who live and breathe the Alpine life, SkiYodl provides skiers with in-depth local knowledge not found elsewhere thanks to its unique community of in-resort ‘fixers’. With decades of local knowledge, skiers are able to connect with these ‘fixers’ for concierge style local recommendations or restaurant/experience bookings, making for a unique, ultra-authentic experience.
The SkiYodl app further enhances community building and in-resort discovery, with recommendations for the best cafes, bars and restaurants as well as snow forecasts, webcam visibility and information on local businesses.
The addition of new Swiss locations is just another exciting phase for the growing company, who have so far raised over £1m from over 650 investors including F1 boss Eddie Jordan and football pundit, Jake Humprey. The company has served over 3,700 skiers and achieved revenue in 2022 of over £1.1 million.
Looking ahead, SkiYodl has exciting plans to develop its technology and use of AI and to expand its marketplace to incorporate more local businesses and services in-resort. It will also build upon the number of properties and locations offered, as well as to launch its first hand-picked hotels and a summer product in the Alps.
Longer term plans will see SkiYodl expand into further European resorts as well as enter the North American market.
