Singapore will get a new direct link to the island of Okinawa next year, when Jetstar Asia expands its Japanese network.
Commencing on 17 November 2017, to coincide with the start of the school holidays, the new service will be Singapore’s only scheduled connection to the popular Japanese holiday destination.
SilkAir and Jetstar have both previously operated charter flights to Okinawa, but this will become the first non-stop scheduled service between Changi and Naha airports.
“Japan has always been on the top of the Singaporean travel bucket list. Since we started flying to Osaka via Taipei or Manila five years ago, Osaka has become the fastest growing destination in Asia Pacific,” said Jetstar Asia’s CEO, Bara Pasupathi. “With more than 360,000 Singapore travellers choosing to fly to Japan every year, we believe that our new service and low-fares will create the same travel effect on Okinawa.”
The new flights will take approximately five hours and 10 minutes using Jetstar Asia’s 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft. Services are now on sale. Flights will run three times a week, every Monday, Friday and Sunday.
Okinawa becomes Jetstar Asia’s second destination in Japan after Osaka. Jetstar Japan also operates nine services a week to Okinawa from Tokyo Narita, Nagoya and Osaka.
