THAI operates flights to Yangon and Dhaka with Airbus A320

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) proceeds with the restructuring of business operation in aviation of the company and THAI Smile Airways. The fleet efficiency and aircraft utilization have effectively been enhanced. The airline route network has also been strengthened to support increasing travel demands. THAI will utilize Airbus A320 aircraft to operate on the routes Bangkok – Yangon v.v., which was formerly operated by THAI Smile Airways, and Bangkok – Dhaka v.v., starting 16 July 2023 with details as follows: 1. Bangkok – Yangon v.v. will be operated with Airbus A320 aircraft providing inflight services of Silk Class, especially offered on routes operated with A320, with variety of food and beverages to fulfill all customers’ travel experiences and comfort throughout their journey, and Economy Class together with selections of inflight entertainment such as e-Reading and short movies. The operations will be 14 flights per week: Bangkok – Yangon • TG301 departs from Bangkok at 09:35 hours and arrives in Yangon at 10:35 hours (local time) • TG303 departs from Bangkok at 17:05 hours and arrives in Yangon at 18:00 hours (local time) Yangon – Bangkok • TG302 departs from Yangon at 11:25 hours (local time) and arrives in Bangkok at 13:25 hours • TG304 departs from Yangon at 19:00 hours (local time) and arrives in Bangkok at 21:00 hours 2. Bangkok – Dhaka v.v. (TG339/340) will be operated with Airbus A320 aircraft, an increase from three to seven flights per week, offering Economy Class service. With existing flight operations of TG321/322, THAI will totally fly double daily flights from Bangkok to Dhaka with details as follows: Bangkok – Dhaka • TG321, operated with B777-200ER aircraft, departs from Bangkok at 10:35 hours and arrives in Dhaka at 12:10 hours (local time) • TG339, operated with A320 aircraft, departs from Bangkok at 23:50 hours and arrives in Dhaka at 01:25 hours (local time) Dhaka – Bangkok • TG322, operated with B777-200ER aircraft, departs from Dhaka at 13:35 hours (local time) and arrives in Bangkok at 17:00 hours • TG340, operated with A320 aircraft, departs from Dhaka at 02:45 hours (local time) and arrives in Bangkok at 06:15 hours Currently, THAI also operates flights to Delhi, Mumbai and Dhaka utilizing B777-200ER and A320 aircraft.

Thai Vietjet supports operating Bangkok – Yangon flights

Thai Vietjet, in support to its partner’s request, operates international direct flights between Bangkok and Yangon, from June 1 – 20, 2023, with following schedule. Thai Vietjet’s flight VZ8700 Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) – Yangon with departure at 10:30 and arrival at 11:35, and VZ8701 Yangon – Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi), departing at 12:20 and arriving at 14:10, every day. Established in 2014, Thai Vietjet has been cooperating with Vietjet to extend its flight network and provide more opportunities for travelers to discover Thailand and many other countries with its hospitable and enjoyable service. With a focus on cost management ability, effective operations, and performance, the airline offers flying opportunities with cost-saving and flexible fares as well as diversified services to meet customers’ demands. Awarded 'The Fastest Growing Low-cost Carrier of the 2020' by Global Business Outlook Magazine, Thai Vietjet has been continuously expanding its young and modern fleet, featuring Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft. The airline has also recently been awarded the ‘Most Passenger-Friendly Cabin Crew - 2021’ airline from International Finance Magazine, emphasizing its position as the ‘airline of hospitality’, reinforcing its core value of ‘Friendly & Fun’, together with ‘Safety’, ‘Punctuality, and ‘Affordable Price’.  Currently, Thai Vietjet operates 10 Thailand domestic routes, including flights from Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) to Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket, Krabi, Udon Thani, Hat Yai, Khon Kaen, Ubon Ratchathani, and Surat Thani, cross-regional flights including from Phuket to Chiang Mai. The airline is also actively expanding its international flight network to many destinations across Asia-pacific, connecting Thailand with Vietnam, Singapore, Cambodia, Japan, Taipei, and other top destinations in the region.

Yangon airport handled 6.5 million passengers in 2019

Yangon Aerodrome Company (YACL), the airport management company of Yangon International Airport (YIA), announced that the main aviation gateway of Myanmar closed 2019 with a record high of 6.5 million passenger movements, lifted by new routes across Asia. Air passenger movements in 2019 are the highest since YACL took over YIA operations in 2015, rising 7.9% compared to 6.03 million in 2018. International passenger movements in 2019 rose 7.9%, supported by new airlines and additional routes, mainly from the Chinese and Indian markets. December 2019 was the busiest month of the year, recording 685,910 passenger movements and 7,425 air traffic movements (ATM). During the year, YIA welcomed 10 new international airlines and added seven new destinations. YACL has been actively targeting new markets to expand YIA’s international routes. The most recent additions are flydubai’s daily scheduled flights from Dubai, UAE, and IndiGo Airlines’ daily flights from Kolkata, India. Among YIA’s markets in 2019 (compared to 2018) China grew fastest, rising 36%. This was followed by Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam. Ho Chee Tong, chief executive officer of YACL said: “The Myanmar government’s proactive steps to raise tourism awareness internationally and the relaxation of visa requirements have boosted the growth of YIA’s passenger numbers.”

Yangon airport launches Myanmar’s first-ever premium service lounge

Yangon International Airport (YIA) unveiled the Mingalar Sky Premium Lounge, the first 24-hour, five-star premium lounge to offer express passenger check-in in the country. Located at Terminal 1, Mingalar Sky Lounge features a ground-floor reception area leading to the lounge itself on the second floor. It is the fourth Mingalar Sky lounge to open at YIA, the country’s main international airport which is operated by Yangon Aerodrome Company (YACL). Managed by Mingalar Sky Company, the lounge offers round-the-clock services for travellers, including those on transit, with a free seating area for up to 80 passengers and six private rooms which can each accommodate up to 10 persons. Up to three passengers can access the lounge with a one-time payment of USD 200 for the service package which entitles users to the lounge’s dedicated departure services including customer service staff welcome at Commercially Important Person (CIP) check-in area, assistance for check-in and escort through the airport immigration and security. YIA currently operates two other lounges in Terminal 1 and one at Terminal 3, which are open to international travellers and members of airport lounge access programmes such as Priority Pass, Dragon Pass, Lounge Buddy and Plaza Premium. “As YIA is Myanmar’s busiest international airport, it is essential that we continually improve our facilities, operations and services to attract travellers. Our new distinct and ultra-modern travel lounge is designed to be havens of comfort, exclusivity and tranquility,” said Jose Angeja, chief operating officer of YACL.

Flydubai to launch flights to Krabi and Yangon

Dubai-based flydubai has announced plans to launch flights to Krabi in Thailand and Yangon in Myanmar, expanding its network to Southeast Asia. The new daily flights are codeshared with Emirates and will operate from Terminal 3 at Dubai International starting from 10 December. Krabi International Airport (KBV) serves as a gateway to Krabi province in southern Thailand and neighbouring regions like Malaysia and Singapore. With the launch of the daily service, which is operated via a stop in Yangon in Myanmar, flydubai becomes the first UAE national carrier to offer flights to Krabi. The new direct flights to Yangon International Airport will also give passengers easier access to the largest city and commercial centre of Myanmar. "Launch of new routes will further support trade links." Commenting on the launch of the two new routes, Ghaith Al Ghaith, chief executive officer at flydubai said: “The flydubai network has now expanded further east with the launch of flights to Krabi and Yangon. Over the past 10 years, we have remained committed to opening up underserved markets, enabling millions of passengers to travel with more ease from as far as Helsinki in the west to Krabi in the east via Dubai’s aviation hub.” The partnership with Emirates, which has been in place since 2017, goes beyond codesharing and includes integrated network collaboration with coordinated scheduling. Earlier this year, flydubai inaugurated its operations to Naples, complimenting the existing Emirates network in Italy. Sudhir Sreedharan, senior vice president of commercial operations in UAE, GCC, subcontinent and Africa at flydubai said: “The launch of the new routes will further support the trade links between the UAE, Myanmar and Thailand.”
