Southwest signs ten year commitment to Amadeus Sky Suite by Optym

American domestic airline Southwest Airlines has announced it has entered into a long-term agreement to bring the Amadeus Sky Suite by Optym to its operations, in order to upgrade its scheduling capabilities. According to the carrier the new technology, which includes five new solutions including SkyMAX for network optimization, SkySYM for network simulation, SkyPLAN for frequency and capacity optimization, SkyCAST for network planning and SkyWORKS for intelligent schedule development. The suite of five industry-first solutions gives Southwest the most comprehensive and advanced technology for all its network planning, simulation, forecasting and optimization needs. These tools will enable Southwest to boost the efficiency of its network which handles upwards of 4,000 flights every day. “Better route planning techniques” The ten-year agreement can be seen as the seal of approval by Southwest Airlines who were the first company to sign up for Optym’s SkyMAX and SkySYM tools three years ago. These solutions were expanded when Amadeus and Optym announced a partnership in 2016 to develop and market the full suite together on a global scale. “These new tools will enable us to offer more to our customers through better route planning techniques and uncovering new ways to continue growing our network in a meaningful way,” said Adam Decaire, vice president of network planning at Southwest Airlines. “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Amadeus and Optym and look forward to building an even stronger network planning team.” “At Amadeus, we value the opportunity to support Southwest in its strategic investments to deliver continued growth,” said Elena Avila (above), executive vice president of airlines in the Americas. SKYE Suites Sydney: “A striking addition to Sydney’s skyline”

Australian property development group, Crown Group Holdings, has announced the opening of SKYE Suites Sydney—the city’s first boutique serviced apartment. Scheduled to open its doors in the CBD in October 2018, SKYE Suites Sydney is a 25-storey, multi-residential tower which will provide 73 serviced apartments including studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites. The second phase of the project will see the remaining residential suites, rooftop and retail precinct completed in November 2018. The property is committed to giving “luxury experiences” to its guests and residents by providing Delonghi appliances, Vittoria coffee machines, Kevin Murphy toiletries and hair care products, complimentary Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, pre-stocked minibars and a bedding firmness menu. In addition, there will be modern facilities such as an ice cave-themed lobby and pool, as well as a state-of-the-art gymnasium. “A taste of luxury lifestyle in the heart of Sydney’s CBD” Crown Group’s director of hotels and suites, Wayne Taranto, commented: “Appealing to domestic and international visitors and business travellers, SKYE Suites Sydney will offer short-term-stay guests a taste of luxury lifestyle in the heart of Sydney’s CBD. The location of SKYE Suites Sydney is within easy walking distance to the International Convention Centre, Darling Square, Barangaroo precinct and transport that connects to the rest of the city.” Designed by Koichi Takada, the building aims to be a centrepiece of the business district. From arched metal fins that curve over the Horizon Lounge and rooftop to the masonry façade podium, Kochi’s design is inspired by the unique character of significant heritage buildings. To add some flair to the CBD, Crown Group worked collaboratively to restore Skittle Lane, which will host Reflect, a public art installation created by Ramus Illumination. Reflect will be an illuminated sculpture stretching 12 metres across the atrium, comprised of a steel frame, stainless wires and thousands of LED lights. The artwork will shift its palette of colour and movement in lights according to the sound and movement of people beneath it. SKYE Suites Sydney will also offer guests fine dining and al fresco experiences through a new food hub along Skittle Lane. It will host some of Sydney’s most popular new restaurants to open in October 2018. “A striking addition to Sydney’s skyline” Crown Group’s chairman and CEO, Iwan Sunito, added: “We are incredibly excited to open our doors to SKYE Suites Sydney after such success in Parramatta. Philippine Airlines goes with Airbus S. Fleet Performance+ suite

Philippine Airlines (PAL) and its subsidiary PAL Express selected Airbus’ S. Fleet Performance+ (S.FP+) suite to support predictive maintenance and health monitoring across their entire Airbus fleet.  This decision marks a significant advancement in PAL’s operational capabilities and strengthens the longstanding partnership between PAL and Airbus. This was announced on the sidelines of the Predictive Aircraft Maintenance Conference on Wednesday, 13th November in Dublin, Ireland. Under the agreement, PAL’s fleet which includes the A320 Family, A330ceo, and A350 aircraft will be equipped with the S.FP+ solution.  Designed to reduce unplanned maintenance events and the associated costs, S.FP+ will enable PAL to enhance both fleet reliability and operational efficiency. This helps PAL preemptively address potential disruptions and maintain high fleet performance standards. First in Asia As the first airline in the Asia-Pacific region to adopt the "Enhance" tier of S.FP+, PAL gains access to advanced capabilities.  This package leverages predictive analytics to anticipate component wear or failure and provides comprehensive insights into fleet health.  Integrated with the latest technologies of Airbus Skywise Core Platform, S.FP+ is a data-driven solution to identify and prioritise technical issues based on operational and economic impact. PAL OIC and senior vice-president for operations Roland Narciso said: “Our partnership with Airbus to implement S.FP+ will help PAL in elevating operational efficiency. Leveraging Airbus’ predictive maintenance solutions will enhance our fleet’s reliability and high-performance standards.” Balinda Zhang, Airbus head of commercial services for APAC added: “This collaboration with PAL highlights the potential in Southeast Asia for data-driven efficiency in fleet management. Qatar Airways Unveiled Qsuite Next Gen at Farnborough International Airshow 2024

This latest iteration of the award-winning Qatar Airways Qsuite brings the World’s Best Business Class in commercial aviation to new heights. The Reveal The reveal was held in the presence of His Excellency Jassim bin Saif bin Ahmed Al Sulaiti, the Qatari Minister of Transport, and Mr Mohamed Faleh Alhajri, Acting President of Qatar Civil Aviation Authority. In the Qatar Airways Discover Lounge at the Farnborough International Airshow, Engr. Al-Meer introduced the Qsuite, NextGen, with Sama – the World’s First AI Digital Human cabin crew. Sama built up the audience’s excitement through an interactive conversation on how the World’s Best Airline has once again redefined luxury and innovation, elevating the industry’s benchmark in business-class experiences. Qsuite Next Gen The game-changing Qsuite Next Gen aims to facilitate a mindful work-life balance with its revolutionary attributes for all professionals, friends, and families. The redesigned Quad Suite is now equipped with movable 4K OLED Panasonic Astrova IFE screens – a first for any airline in the world. Qatar Executive has expanded its fleet with four additional Gulfstream G700 aircraft, and another six are scheduled to enter service within the next 18 months.
