Iloilo International Airport welcomes first direct Scoot flight from Singapore

Iloilo International Airport welcomed Scoot’s first direct Singapore-Iloilo flight early on Monday, 14th April. The inaugural flight from Singapore carried 107 passengers when it arrived in the Central Philippine city at 5:35am. This maiden flight for Singapore Airlines’ low-cost carrier was welcomed with a water cannon salute, local music, and refreshments.  Subsequently, the return flight heading to Singapore flew out at 6:10am on the same day with 103 passengers. The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) released a statement regarding the flight, declaring: "The new route reinforces Iloilo’s role as a regional gateway and is expected to boost tourism and economic activity in Western Visayas. CAAP continues to work closely with aviation partners to promote regional growth while upholding the highest standards of safety and service.”

Scoot launches direct flights to Vienna and Iloilo City

Singapore Airlines’ low-cost carrier Scoot announced the launch of direct flight services to Vienna in Austria and Iloilo City in the Philippines today, 17th January. The new routes provide travellers accessibility to even more destinations at great value. Thrice-weekly flights to Vienna will begin on 3 June aboard the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which has the capacity for 329 passengers in two cabin classes.  Flights to Iloilo City, on the other hand, will commence on 14 April on the 112-seater Embraer E190-E2 aircraft at an initial frequency of twice weekly, progressively increasing to four times weekly from June 2025. Scoot CEO Leslie Thng said, “We remain committed to expanding our network and connecting travellers to new destinations around the world at a great value.  As the only airline offering direct flights between Singapore and Vienna, we are thrilled to introduce this new service from June, just in time for the holidays. Scoot expands network with new routes to China, Indonesia, and Vietnam

Singapore Airlines’ low-cost carrier Scoot announced the launch of three new flight services to Phu Quoc in Vietnam, Padang in Indonesia, and Shantou in China.  Flights to Phu Quoc and Padang will commence on 20 December 2024 and 6 January 2025, respectively, and will be operated on the Embraer E190-E2 aircraft. On the other hand, flights to Shantou take off on 16 January 2025 on the Airbus A320 family aircraft. With the launch of services to Phu Quoc, Padang and Shantou, Scoot will operate 31 weekly flights to three cities in Vietnam, 84 weekly flights to 11 cities in Indonesia and 89 weekly flights to 17 points in China by January 2025. Flights to Phu Quoc, Padang and Shantou will be available for booking from today, via Scoot’s website, mobile app, and progressively through other channels.  One-way Economy class fares start from SGD135 to Phu Quoc, SGD119 to Padang, and SGD169 to Shantou, inclusive of taxes. Scoot CEO Leslie Thng said of the new routes: “We are happy to announce the introduction of flight services to Padang, Phu Quoc, and Shantou, and hope to inspire more travellers to discover the diverse experiences our new destinations have to offer. We will continue to seek opportunities, expand our network and connect our customers to new travel experiences.” Vibrant new destinations  Known for its rare wildlife and pristine beaches, Phu Quoc is a tropical haven perfect for a holiday of adventure or relaxation. It also houses the Phu Quoc National Park, recognised as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. At present, Phu Quoc is the only destination in Vietnam that has a 30-day visa-free policy, offering international travellers convenient access. From 20 December 2024, Scoot will operate three times weekly flights to Phu Quoc. Two more weekly flights will be added from 25 January 2025, bringing the total number of weekly flights between Singapore and Phu Quoc to five times. Padang, the capital city of West Sumatra and the birthplace of Padang cuisine (Nasi Padang), is a vibrant destination known for its Minangkabau culture and breathtaking beaches for surfing. Whether a culture seeker, a nature or food lover, Padang is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Scoot will operate four times weekly flights to Padang. Shantou, a coastal city located in the province of Guangdong in China, is a destination with deep cultural heritage and home to Chaoshan cuisine including marinated raw seafood. Travellers may like to stroll down Shantou Small Park to see the memorial hall of Dr Sun Yat-sen at Zhongshan Memorial Pavilion, or escape the city to bask in Nan Ao Island’s blue skies, sandy beaches and majestic mountains. Scoot will operate three times weekly flights to Shantou. Network adjustments  In addition to the new destinations, Scoot will be making some adjustments to its network to better match capacity to demand and optimise fleet deployment. Scoot will add two more weekly flights to Jakarta, bringing the total number of weekly flights to 19 times weekly from 24 November 2024.  Services to Koh Samui will be increased from 14 to 21 times weekly from 20 December 2024, and services to Davao will increase from five times weekly to daily flights from 22 December 2024.  Flights to Vientiane will increase from four to five times weekly from 9 February 2025.  Operations to Nanchang will be suspended after the last flight on 14 February 2025.

Scoot adjusts its network schedule to support stronger travel demand

Scoot announced adjustments to its network in anticipation of stronger demand during the Northern Winter season. Scoot’s chief commercial officer Calvin Chan said: “We are happy to announce more flights to popular destinations such as Australia, Japan, and South Korea in the Northern Winter season, to cater to higher demand especially during the holidays and festive season. We will continue to seek new opportunities, remain nimble in our aircraft deployment to match demand, and provide our customers with greater convenience and enjoyable travel journeys with Scoot.” The low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (SIA) declared that, beginning November 2024, extra weekly flights will be mounted to Chiang Mai and Hanoi, increasing services from ten to 11 times weekly and five to six times weekly respectively. From December 2024, services to Perth will increase from 13 to 14 times weekly. Services to Melbourne will also increase from 12 to 13 times weekly, and subsequently to twice daily from January 2025. In addition, three more weekly flights will be mounted to Seoul (Incheon) via Taipei, making it a daily service. Similarly, services to Tokyo (Narita) via Taipei will also increase from 12 to 14 times weekly.  Within Southeast Asia, Scoot will be increasing flights to destinations operated by the Embraer E190-E2 aircraft. These include Davao, which will increase from seven to nine times weekly, as well as Balikpapan and Makassar, which will each increase from three to four times weekly.  More recently, Scoot started operating daily services to Subang in Malaysia from 1 September 2024, and will be launching operations to Kertajati (Greater Bandung) in Indonesia on 28 September 2024 and Malacca in Malaysia on 23 October 2024. In line with Scoot’s ongoing efforts to optimise its network, services to Ningbo will be suspended, with its last flight scheduled for 26 October 2024.

Scoot welcomes two new aircraft from Embraer

Singapore Airlines subsidiary Scoot announced that its two new Embraer E190-E2 are due to arrive in Singapore in September and October of this year, bringing its stock of Embraer E190-E2s to four. Scoot named the third aircraft Jalan-Jalan and the fourth Travel Kaki. The addition of these aircraft enables Scoot to launch flight services to two new Southeast Asian destinations: Kertajali in Indonesia and Malacca in Malaysia. The addition of Kertajati and Malacca to Scoot’s network follows the recent announcement of another new destination, Subang in Malaysia, effective 1 September 2024. Subang, located just 28 kilometres from Kuala Lumpur, provides travellers an alternative and convenient gateway to the Malaysian capital. Additional routes Scoot will also be deploying the E190-E2s on some existing services.  This includes twice weekly flights to Pekanbaru on the E190- E2s in addition to its thrice weekly flights on the Airbus A320 aircraft, and increased flight frequencies from three to four-times weekly to Balikpapan and Makassar, from October 2024.  From November 2024, the E190-E2s will also operate nine-times weekly flights to Davao, an increase from seven-times weekly today, and from December 2024, four-times weekly flights to Vientiane, an increase from three-times weekly today.

Air India Express launches virtual interline platform with Scoot as first partner

Air India Express has become the first Indian airline to launch a Virtual Interline platform, offering flyers a wider range of booking options. Starting their flight search from the airline’s website, airindiexpress.com, users can connect to the new platform, enabling them to book connecting flights where one leg of the journey is operated by Air India Express and the other leg by the partner airline. Developed in collaboration with leading travel solutions technology company Dohop, the Virtual Interline platform “AIX Connect” enhances the connectivity of Air India Express’s network by enabling travellers to book self-connect itineraries between flights of Air India Express and those of the partner airline. Singapore-based airline, Scoot, joins as the inaugural partner, enabling users to book flights from India and the Middle East to 60 destinations across Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Laos People's Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. This partnership introduces a range of new sectors, complementing the Air India Express network of 380 daily flights from 32 domestic and 14 international destinations. For instance, users can now book flights from Chennai to popular destinations such as Bali, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, Incheon, Melbourne, Penang, Phuket, Sydney, and Tokyo, or even flights from Doha, Dubai, Kuwait, or Muscat to Singapore via India. Similarly, travellers from Tiruchirappalli can connect to popular destinations including Bali, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Melbourne, Penang, Perth, Sydney, and Taipei. Flyers from Madurai can now book flights to Bali, Bangkok, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Melbourne, Phuket, Seoul, Sydney, and Taipei, among others. As Air India Express continues to expand its network, especially in the Middle East, it anticipates partnering with other international airlines in the region whose networks complement destinations with significant outbound travel demand from India and attract international tourists to India. Scoot launches new daily route to Subang

Singapore Airlines’ Scoot announced that it will commence a new flight route to Subang, Malaysia beginning 1 September. The new route offers daily flights aboard Scoot’s Airbus A320, providing customers with an alternative option to conveniently travel between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, and beyond to the rest of Scoot’s network. The addition of Subang to Scoot’s operations increases its routes to 70 destinations, including Ipoh, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Kuantan, Kuching, Langkawi, Miri, Penang, and Sibu in Malaysia. By September 2024, Scoot will operate 110 weekly flights to Malaysia. Booking for the new Subang route may currently be done via Scoot’s official website and mobile app, and will gradually expand to other channels.

Azorra delivers first Embraer E190-E2 aircraft to Scoot 

Azorra is celebrating delivery of the first of nine new  Embraer E190-E2 aircraft to Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (SIA).   A special handover ceremony was attended today by senior executives from Azorra, Scoot and Embraer at Embraer’sfacility in Brazil. Named ‘Explorer 3.0’, in celebration of the third and newest fleet addition  to the Scoot family, the delivery of the E190-E2 marks the first time a Singapore carrier is introducing an aircraft from the Brazilian manufacturer. Leslie Thng, Chief Executive Officer of Scoot, says: “We are honored to be the first Singapore carrier to  take delivery of this modern and fuel-efficient aircraft and the E190-E2 jets are crucial to our overall  network growth strategy.
