Nok Air partners with AirGain

Sabre adds Nok Air content to its Global Distribution System

Travel software and technology provider Sabre Corporation announced that it is adding content from Nok Air, one of Thailand’s prominent budget carriers, to its Global Distribution System (GDS).   By joining Sabre’s extensive travel marketplace, Nok Air will be able to enhance its visibility among travel agencies, corporate buyers, and travellers, driving bookings and revenue growth.  The addition of Nok Air’s content reinforces Sabre’s commitment to delivering an extensive range of low-cost carrier options, empowering its travel agency partners to craft the most compelling offers for their customers. A key to expansion According to Nok Air chief executive Witthiphum Jurangkool: “We’re thrilled to bring Nok Air’s extensive route network and service offerings to a wider audience through Sabre. By making our content available via Sabre’s GDS, we’re broadening our global and market segment reach and ensuring both leisure and corporate travellers have more ways to discover and book our flights.” Sabre’s vice-president for agency sales and airline distribution in the Asia Pacific Brett Thorstad added: “This is the first time that Nok Air has offered its content through a GDS which is testament to the value Sabre’s global marketplace brings for our airline and agency partners. By adding Nok Air to our growing portfolio of budget carrier content, we’re expanding the range of options available through Sabre’s multi-source content platform and enabling the airline to connect with new audiences through our global travel marketplace.” Since it first took off in 2004, Nok Air continues to operate an extensive network within Thailand and to key destinations in the region.  Additionally, Nok Air offers connecting flights through codeshare partnerships and fly-n-ferry services, providing travellers access to islands in Thailand that aren’t connected via air.  Sabre’s multi-source content platform enables travel agencies to intuitively compare, shop, book, and service all types of content, including traditional EDIFACT offers, New Distribution Capability (NDC), and low-cost carrier.

Airalo and Nok Air team up to simplify travel connectivity

Thai airline Nok Air teamed up with eSIM marketplace Airalo to help simplify travel connectivity for its passengers. This strategic partnership enables Nok Air customers to seamlessly purchase Airalo eSIMs directly through the Nok Air website, ensuring convenient and affordable data connectivity while traveling. The integration of Airalo eSIMs on the Nok Air website is now live, providing Nok Air passengers with a simple and efficient way to purchase data plans for their upcoming trips. Helping passengers stay connected Nok Air chief executive Wutthiphum Jurangkool said of the partnership: “We are constantly seeking ways to enhance the travel experience for our passengers. Skal International Bangkok elects Kanokros Wongvekin as President

James Thurlby to Head SKÅL International Thailand’s National Committee;  Kanokros Sakdanares  takes over as President of SKÅL Bangkok  

(L-R) James Thurlby and Kanokros Sakdanares   James Thurlby, President of SKÅL International Bangkok has been appointed as the new President of SKÅL International Thailand following the resignation of outgoing president Kevin Rautenbach who now takes up a new role as director of the organisation’s newly formed International Executive Committee. James Thurlby who is Marketing Manager at Move Ahead Media – a digital marketing company - has been President of SKÅL Bangkok since 2020 during which time he has steered the club from strength to strength, driving positive change and growth of its membership. He has implemented innovative strategies to enhance the Club’s membership experience, nurtured strong relationships with key stakeholders, and championed initiatives to promote sustainability within the organisation. James also serves as Co-Chair of the SKÅL International IT Committee, a prestigious role that highlights his expertise in digital marketing and influence in the field.  His commitment to SKAL was recognized last year when he was named an Exemplary Skalleague by SKÅL International for his services to the organisation. Meanwhile, commenting on James’ new role, Kevin Rautenbach said: “James is an accomplished leader with over 20 years in the hospitality industry and more recently in digital marketing.  His experience here in Thailand makes him well versed in the local market dynamics and cultural nuances, I wish him continued success as he now takes the helm of the national committee.” Replacing James as President of SKÅL International Bangkok is  Kanokros Sakdanares [Khun Aom] who is currently the club’s Director of PR & Marketing. Khun Aom is a PR and Marketing consultant who was formerly at Centara Hotels & Resorts.  For SKÅL Bangkok she plays a key role in promoting membership and events, and in organising the club’s regular Business Speaker Lunches which have been earning a reputation for their high-profile speakers from senior figures in the Government and from the travel and tourism sector. SKÅL International Bangkok recently  celebrated the Club’s  achievement in winning ‘Best Hotel & Networking Group 2023’ award from LUXlife Magazine. Commenting on Khun Aom’s appointment, James Thurlby said: “I am extremely proud and honoured to pass the baton of President to my highly capable and talented Skalleague Khun Aom.  She exemplifies what we have been trying to achieve here at SKÅL Bangkok in promoting leadership amongst our female members and building a more diverse, dynamic and representative profile for our organization.”

Nok Air starts flights from Bangkok to Hyderabad

Nok Air, one of Thailand’s most popular airline proudly commenced their operations from Bangkok to Hyderabad from 21st February, 2023. The first flight from Hyderabad to Bangkok departed on 22nd February, 2023. NOK Air celebrated this momentous touchdown by hosting a grand party in the city of Hyderabad the same evening with prominent travel trade partners . "Hyderabad is one of the safest and growing city in India. We believe this city has a lot of potential. There lot of segments like pharma, tourism etc. which are growing. So taking this as an opportunity we have welcomed NOK Air here. We are assured that under the leadership of our ministers we are expecting to grow the sectors on a daily basis. The new route will be operated by state-of-the-art Boeing 737-800 with 189 Economy Class seats. Currently Hyderabad is the sole location Nok Air serves in India. The new route easily links Bangkok with over 20 locations in Thailand, including Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Chiang Rai, as well as with international locations like Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and Yangon (Myanmar).

The new route conveniently connects Bangkok to over 20 destinations in Thailand including Phuket, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai as well as International destinations including Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and Yangon (Myanmar). “India is a very important and old friend of Thailand, and at Nok Air, we are elated to welcome onboard passengers from Hyderabad with direct flights starting 19th February 2023. Mesmerising night views at Jeonju Hanok village in Korea

Jeonju City  has announced that the “Hanok Village cultural facility and alleyway night view improvement project” has been successfully completed. Now providing tourists and citizens with beautiful night views that can be enjoyed in improved safety, Hanok Village is expected to increase its tour service hours to late at night. Jeonju City installed landscape lighting on Taejo-ro, the main street of Hanok Village, and lighting facilities, including traditional lamps in cultural facilities and alleyways to help visitors enjoy the unique atmosphere of Jeonju Hanok Village also at night. The Cheongsachorong lanterns installed along the entrance to the village create shadow zones after lighting is turned off in stores. To ensure the safety of tourists and visitors, Jeonju City enhanced the environment of the village through the night view improvement project. External lighting has also been installed in cultural facilities, such as Jeonju Fan Culture Center, Choi Myeong Hee Literary Museum, Daesaseupcheong, Marudal, Wanpanbon Culture Center, and various creative art spaces, to add the “warmth of light” to Hanok cultural facilities. In addition, Jeonju City installed traditional lanterns and wall lighting to turn secluded alleyways into safe streets filled with the warmth of light. “Through this project, we transformed Jeonju Hanok Village, the most Korean and world-class tourist site, so that visitors can enjoy the beauty and charm of the village also at night,” said director Heo Gap-su of Jeonju City’s Hanok Village Support Division. “We will continue dedicating our efforts toward landscape improvement so that Jeonju Hanok Village is remembered by tourists as a destination they would want to revisit both day and night.”

  IWTA speaks with Monchanok Adhyanasakul – Board Member at Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel and Consultant for Grand Asset Hotels and Property   Background: She wanted to be a doctor when she was a young girl to help people from suffering. Whilst traveling with her family, she found passion for our industry where she decided that the tourism industry would be her future.  Prior to joining the hospitality industry, she joined PWC as an Audit Associate which gave her an opportunity learning the whole process of business, but she was missing the creativity. She had her eyes set on hospitality and in 2014 she completed her studies at Cornell University in America.    Summary: She shares so many pearls of wisdom of how to balance a busy career with the rest of what life has to offer (friends, health, hobbies, travelling).
