Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon recently visited Kuala Lumpur to promote Seoul as a global hub of K-culture, engaging with local fans and travellers at the "Seoul My Soul" event held at Fahrenheit88 shopping mall. AirAsia Malaysia commences flights on its new Kuala Lumpur-Banjarmasin route
AirAsia Malaysia flew its inaugural service connecting Kuala Lumpur and Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan, Indonesia today, 20th October. This maiden flight marks the first-ever scheduled international link between Malaysia and the Indonesian province. In addition to enabling affordable and direct linkage to Malaysia’s capital, this new service will also provide travellers with more seamless and affordable options to visit the other stunning destinations in the country, complementing efforts for the upcoming Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign and supporting the region’s economic growth through halal-friendly travel and trade opportunities. Taiwan Tourism Administration's office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia teamed up with popular Malaysian illustrator Jayee Lim for a promotional campaign that literally hits the road. Lim’s colourful characters took the spotlight with the WOW Taiwan vehicular advertising campaign which was launched last 4th September. Aside from the major thoroughfares of Kuala Lumpur, the campaign also made its way to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. A total of 200 ride-hailing cars and 12 double-decker buses are now roaming through commercial hotspots in the Klang Valley and Kota Kinabalu, inviting Malaysians to explore Taiwan. A campaign to make travellers go WOW Lim’s signature characters OhBear and Monkiddo take the lead in designed three themed vehicle illustrations: Retreat2WOW highlights the beauty of Alishan’s cherry blossoms and forest railway; Discover2WOW showcases Taipei 101 and fields of hot spring flowers; and Adventure2WOW blends the iconic Sanxiantai in the East, Vase Rock in the South, and Indigenous culture, expressing the charm of Taiwan’s mountains and seas. China Eastern Airlines’ maiden Taiyuan-Kuala Lumpur flight successful
Tourism Malaysia lauded China Eastern Airlines for the successful launch of its inaugural direct service connecting Taiyuan and Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, 11th September. As one of China’s major cities rich in cultural heritage and economic potential, Taiyuan’s connection to Kuala Lumpur is expected to encourage greater visitor flows and boost Malaysia’s visibility as a preferred destination in Asia. A new chapter in regional connectivity unfolded as Flight MU859 touched down at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 at approximately 4:30am local time, marking the inaugural arrival from Taiyuan via Wuhan. This historic flight symbolises a pivotal milestone in enhancing air links between Malaysia and northern China, laying the foundation for deeper bilateral cooperation in tourism alongside trade exchange. Beyond convenience According to Tourism Malaysia deputy director-general Lee Thai Hung, the introduction of this new air connectivity marks a significant step forward in strengthening the dynamic alongside growing tourism ties between Malaysia and China. Lee said: “Beyond enhancing travel convenience, it also underscores our continued commitment to positioning Malaysia as a premier travel destination within the region. We look forward to welcoming a greater number of Chinese visitors to explore Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage, stunning natural landscapes, and the diverse, memorable experiences our country proudly offers.” China Eastern Airlines is set to operate the new route four times weekly, with a scheduled transit stop at Wuhan Tianhe International Airport. The service will utilise Boeing 737- 800 aircraft, configured with 175 seats to ensure a comfortable and efficient travel experience. This enhanced air connectivity not only offers greater convenience and flexibility for both business as well as leisure passengers but also serves as a strategic conduit to strengthen economic collaboration with interpersonal connections between Malaysia and the northern provinces of China.
Jiangxi Air successful with first direct Nanchang-Kuala Lumpur flight
Tourism Malaysia welcomed Xiamen Air’s low-cost carrier Jiangxi Air as it flew the inaugural flight of its direct Nanchang-Kuala Lumpur service on Monday, 25th August. Flight RY6607 touched down safely at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), marking the historic arrival of the first-ever direct flight connecting Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi Province, with Malaysia’s bustling capital city. Passengers and crew were feted with a welcome ceremony officiated by Malaysian deputy secretary-general of tourism Chua Choon Hwa and Normah Osman, deputy secretary-general for policy at the Malaysian Ministry of Transport. Attendees included Tourism Malaysia deputy director-general Samuel Lee, together with Malaysia Airport Holdings managing director MohD Izani Ghani and Jiangxi Air general manager Kang Zhiyang. A notable milestone This milestone not only enhances air connectivity but also strengthens tourism, trade, and investment linkages between Malaysia and China’s eastern region. Malaysian minister of tourism, arts, and culture Tiong King Sing said of the addition of Kuala Lumpur to Jiangxi Air’s flight network: “This new air link is a testament to the strong and ever-growing tourism ties between Malaysia and China. It not only enhances connectivity but also supports our continuous efforts to position Malaysia as a premier travel destination in the region. We look forward to welcoming more Chinese visitors to experience Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and diverse offerings.” At the same time, the Nanchang–Kuala Lumpur route marks an epoch in Jiangxi Air’s history as it is the airline’s first-ever scheduled international service. The airline’s choice of Kuala Lumpur as its maiden overseas destination reflects its strong confidence in Malaysia’s tourism appeal and underscores the Southeast Asian nation’s role as a strategic gateway to Southeast Asia. Moving forward, Jiangxi Air will operate twice-weekly flights between Nanchang Changbei International Airport and KLIA Terminal 1, utilising its modern Boeing 737-800 aircraft with 175 seats. This convenient service is set to boost business travel, leisure tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, while creating greater economic opportunities for both nations.
