Cathay Pacific resumes non-stop service from Hyderabad

Cathay Pacific continues to strengthen its network in India with the resumption of its non-stop passenger service from Hyderabad, the capital city of India’s Telangana state. The resumption took flight on Monday, 31st March, and the service operates thrice a week, specifically on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays. This ensures seamless travel connections for customers to Hong Kong and beyond. With this resumption, Cathay Pacific is now operating across five Indian cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad. By doing so, the airline cements its role as a key carrier connecting India to its home hub in Hong Kong. The resumption of flights from Hyderabad further underscores the significance of India to Cathay Pacific’s global network.  The direct service is being operated by the airline’s Airbus A330-300 aircraft, featuring Business and Economy cabins. Cathay Pacific now operates a total of 39 return passenger flights per week from five destinations in India.  This will rise to 43 return flights per week by 1st September, including five flights per week from Hyderabad, double-daily flights from Delhi, ten flights per week from Mumbai, and daily flights from Bengaluru and Chennai. A step in the right direction  According to Rakesh Raicar, Cathay’s regional general manager for South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa: “Resuming flights to Hyderabad is a significant step in our India expansion strategy. With this resumption, we remain committed to providing Indian travellers with more choice, greater connectivity, and world-class service.” Raicar added that Hyderabad’s economic rise and growing outbound travel demand make it a vital addition to the airline’s global network.  He said: “As we continue to enhance our operations, our focus remains on fostering connections: bringing people, businesses, and economies closer, while reinforcing Hong Kong’s position as a leading international aviation hub.” GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd CEO Pradeep Panicker likewise expressed his enthusiasm at the route resumption by saying: “The resumption of direct flight services between Hyderabad and Hong Kong represents a significant milestone in our international connectivity. This development will facilitate stronger business ties, tourism, and cultural exchange between these two dynamic regions. Additionally, the resumption introduces valuable belly cargo capacity, allowing us to offer more time-bound solutions for the Hyderabad market, particularly benefiting time-sensitive products such as perishables, mail, and courier services.”

RevPAR surges 23% in Hyderabad, Tier II & III cities dominate new hotel signings: JLL

Representative Image The Indian hospitality sector demonstrated strong growth in Q4 (October-December) 2024, with the top six markets experiencing year-over-year increases in both Average Daily Rate (ADR) and Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR). Hyderabad emerged as the standout performer, recording the highest RevPAR growth at 23.3%, primarily driven by a significant increase in ADR. Bengaluru also showed impressive resilience, with high RevPAR growth supported by improvements in both ADR and occupancy rates. The quarter saw substantial activity in hotel signings, with 99 new hotels totaling 11,943 keys being signed. This indicates continued investor confidence and expansion in the Indian hospitality market. In terms of transactions, the total value for 2024 was estimated at approximately INR 2,900 crore, highlighting significant investment in the sector. Interestingly, Tier II and Tier III cities accounted for 50% of the transactions, predominantly involving unbranded midscale properties. This suggests a growing interest in developing hospitality infrastructure beyond the major metropolitan areas. The investment landscape saw diverse participation, with High-Net-Worth Individuals (HNIs), family offices, and private owners contributing 51% of the investment volume. Q4 2024 saw a significant shift towards Tier II and III cities, which accounted for 75% of new hotel signings. The midscale segment dominated, representing 53% of hotel openings and 44% of signings. Uttar Pradesh led in signings, with 1,744 keys. Interestingly, HNIs, family offices, and private owners contributed 51% of the investment volume, indicating a growing interest from individual investors in the hospitality sector. New hotspots are emerging in Delhi's Yashobhoomi and Mumbai's airport district, signaling potential for future growth in these areas. Overall, the Q4 2024 report paints a picture of a robust and expanding Indian hospitality market, with growth spread across various cities, tiers, and segments, suggesting a positive outlook for the industry. “Hospitality markets in India saw an unprecedented activity in 2024. Backed by a strong domestic travel demand both in business and leisure segments, hotel investments saw several new groups attracted towards building new hotels especially in tier II and tier III towns. We witnessed 367 new hotel signings and 154 new hotel openings last year. This represented 14% of growth over 2023. This is encouraging news for the Hotel industry ecosystem as it will boost construction activity, lending activity and finally providing jobs across the spectrum," stated Jaideep Dang, Managing Director, Hotels and Hospitality Group, India, JLL.

Vietjet launches direct flights from Hyderabad & Bengaluru to Vietnam

Vietjet is further strengthening its presence in India with the launch of new direct flights connecting Hyderabad and Bengaluru to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s economic powerhouse, on March 18 and 19, 2025, respectively. These new routes mark a significant milestone in Vietjet’s commitment to expanding its global network while enhancing connectivity between India and the Southeast Asia region. IndiGo launches direct flight from Hyderabad to Madinah

IndiGo, India's preferred airline, today launched its new direct service between Hyderabad and Madinah, IndiGo's 38th international and 128th overall destination. Vietjet expands India network with new routes to Vietnam from Hyderabad and Bangalore

Vietjet is strengthening its presence in India with two new direct routes linking Hyderabad and Bangalore to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s economic powerhouse, starting 18 and 19 March  2025, respectively. These new services will reinforce Vietjet’s position as a key player in the aviation market between the two countries, while fostering connectivity and growth across Asia. The new flights are now available for booking. To celebrate the new routes, Vietjet is offering special promotional fares with tickets starting from INR11+taxes & fees (*) on all India–Vietnam routes. Passengers can enjoy this deal from now until January 30, 2025, for travel between February 10 and September 30, 2025 (**). Cathay Pacific to resume direct passenger flights to Hyderabad

Cathay Pacific announced the resumption of its non-stop passenger service to Hyderabad, the capital city of India’s Telangana state, beginning 30th March 2025.  Now open for booking, Cathay Pacific’s upcoming Hong Kong-Hyderabad service marks the airline’s latest step in strengthening its network presence in India and enhancing connectivity at its home hub in Hong Kong. The non-stop service between Hong Kong and Hyderabad will be operated by the  airline’s Airbus A330-300 aircraft, featuring Business and Economy cabins.  The  service will operate three times a week upon launch, increasing to five times a week  from 1 September 2025.  Cathay Pacific’s Hyderabad service will also connect more travellers from India to  Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland and beyond via the airline’s extensive global  network at its home hub. Building a stronger presence in the Indian market Cathay chief customer and commercial officer Lavinia Lau said: “We are  delighted to be resuming our direct flights between Hong Kong and Hyderabad.  These flights will provide customers with access to one of India’s most vibrant  cities, known for its rich heritage and booming technology sector.”   Lau added that the resumption reaffirms Cathay Pacific’s established presence in India and its commitment  to enhancing services in a highly important market.  She concluded with: “Our efforts to foster cultural connections and facilitate trade between our home city and India will continue as  we further strengthen our network to grow and develop Hong Kong as a leading  international aviation hub.”  Currently, Cathay Pacific operates 31 return passenger flights per week to four  destinations in India, including Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai. This rises to  39 return flights per week by 30 March 2025, and increases further to 43 return  flights per week by 1 September 2025. Aside from the five-times-weekly  Hyderabad service, this will include double-daily flights to Delhi, 10 flights per week  to Mumbai, and daily flights to Bengaluru and Chennai.

SAMHI signs long-term variable lease in Hitec City, Hyderabad

  SAMHI a branded hotel ownership and asset management platform in India, announces the addition of a new hotel to its portfolio by signing a long-term variable lease for an Upper Upscale hotel of 170 -175 rooms in Hyderabad. The hotel will be completed through conversion of an office building located on the main arterial road of Hitec City, the largest office micro-market in Hyderabad and surrounded by a high density of Grade A office stock. The structure is already completed with N270,000 sq.ft. of built-up area and SAMHI will now undertake the fit-out work of the building. Through this lease agreement, SAMHI strengthens its market share in Hyderabad, which has one of the India's largest & fastest growing office markets. The Company already owns and operates 4 hotels with 8781 rooms in Hyderabad across segments. This transaction will further add 170 -175 rooms in the Upper Upscale segment which will be managed by a large international operator. Basis FY24 financials, revenue from leased assets contributed 13% to SAMHl's total revenue. This transaction will help us in achieving the target of20%+ revenue contribution from leased assets which are significantly more capital efficient. The hotel once completed will also increase our share of our Upper Upscale & Upscale assets in a key market after our last acquisition in Bengaluru. IndiGo enhances domestic connectivity from Hyderabad and Ahmedabad

IndiGo has announced 10 daily direct flights to increase domestic connectivity from Hyderabad and Ahmedabad in September 2024. These new routes and frequencies aim to enhance domestic connectivity and bolster mobility from the capital cities of Telangana and Gujarat, considering the increased demand for air travel in the states from business and leisure travellers, and growing enthusiasm around spiritual tourism. These new and additional connections will also help customers connect from Hyderabad and Ahmedabad to international destinations across Asia. With the addition of these flights, IndiGo now offers 1220 direct flights a week from Hyderabad to 69 destinations and 523 weekly flights from Ahmedabad to 35 destinations.
