Air India Express has launched operations from Manohar International Airport (GOX) in North Goa 

Expanding its footprint in Goa, Air India Express has launched operations from Manohar International Airport (GOX) in North Goa, complementing its existing services at Goa International Airport (GOI). With operations now from both airports, the airline will operate over 115 weekly flights from Goa—including 75 from GOI and over 40 from GOX—offering travellers enhanced flexibility and improved access to North Goa, renowned for its pristine beaches, vibrant nightlife, bustling markets, and rich cultural heritage. Effective April 15, 2025, Air India Express launched new services connecting North Goa with Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, and Indore, further strengthening domestic connectivity to the region. The airline now operates twice-daily flights to Delhi, daily flights to Bengaluru and Indore, and flights to Chennai on all days except Wednesdays. Services on the Hyderabad–North Goa route will commence on May 3, 2025. Expanding its international footprint from North Goa, Air India Express will also launch direct flights to Kuwait starting May 3, followed by services to Abu Dhabi from May 5, 2025. To mark the commencement of Air India Express operations from North Goa, the airline and the airport operator hosted a celebratory event at Manohar International Airport. The event was attended by Siddhartha Butalia, Chief Marketing Officer, Air India Express; Shashi Chetia, Vice President - Network Planning, Air India Express; and Anand Ramachandran, Deputy CEO, Manohar International Airport, along with key airport stakeholders including representatives from CISF, Customs, and other operational partners. Goa Tourism holds roadshow in Oman

Goa Tourism successfully conducted a high-impact roadshow in Muscat, Oman, reinforcing its commitment to promoting Goa as a premier tourism destination in the Middle East. The roadshow served as a strategic platform to engage with key travel trade professionals, tour operators, media representatives, and potential investors, highlighting Goa’s diverse tourism offerings and emerging opportunities. The event witnessed the presence of Kuldeep Arolkar, Managing Director GTDC, and leading stakeholders from Oman’s travel and hospitality industry. The Goa Tourism delegation was accompanied by the members of the Travel Trade Association led by TTAG President Shri Jack Sukhija, and others consisting of charter operators, hoteliers, and travel agents. The roadshow featured an engaging networking session, where key discussions revolved around new tourism initiatives, including regenerative tourism, eco-tourism circuits, and the promotion of niche segments such as wellness tourism, adventure tourism, and cultural heritage experiences. Smt. Tavishi Bahl, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India in Muscat, addressed the gathering with warm remarks on the roadshow, highlighting the growing tourism and cultural ties between Goa and Oman. Commenting on the roadshow, Tourism Minister, Rohan A. Khaunte said, “Goa is evolving beyond its beaches to offer a diverse and enriching tourism experience — from the serene charm of our hinterlands and spiritual circuits to world-class infrastructure for MICE tourism. Thailand Tourism Festival 2025 showcases ‘5 Must-Do’ and Carbon Neutral Goals

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) presents the 43rd Thailand Tourism Festival 2025, taking place from 26 to 30 March, between 10:00 and 21:00 Hrs., at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre. This year’s festival showcases tourism products and services under the theme “5 Must-Do Experiences in Thailand”, alongside the concept of Carbon Neutral Tourism, in line with the “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism & Sport Year 2025.” Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, noted that the festival is one of this year’s Grand Festivities, designed to inspire travel, create Grand Moments, and deliver instant joy, encouraging domestic tourism throughout the year. TAT expects approximately 130,000 attendees over the five-day festival, with a projected reach of 45 million impressions. In line with Thailand’s sustainable tourism strategy, the Governor added, “Now in its third year, TAT continues to uphold its core mission of promoting sustainable tourism. The festival includes the ‘Zero Waste to Landfills’ initiative, with 14 designated waste-sorting points across the venue to minimise landfill waste. All waste will be properly separated and disposed of, with an ambitious target to keep unsorted waste below 10%—reflecting TAT’s commitment to making tourism a true force for sustainability.” To further support the event’s low-impact approach, public transport is recommended, including the MRT (Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre Station), taxis at the G Floor Lakeside entrance, and bus route 136. Visitors are also encouraged to download the Amazing Thailand mobile app, which features a 3D venue map and AR navigation for easy exploration. The app also provides a full schedule of main stage activities and personalised event alerts. The festival features attractions across nine main activity zones, including five regional village zones and four themed highlight zones, offering an immersive experience through Thailand’s cultural and travel landscape. Visitors can enjoy iconic landmarks, photo spots, local cuisine and products, creative travel showcases, cultural and contemporary performances, and hands-on workshops and DIY activities. Zone 1: Amazing Thailand Marking its 65th anniversary, TAT presents an immersive exhibition featuring a TeamLab-style installation and a dynamic 3D video wall. Highlights include a retro photo experience at the Chayanitikorn Studio, coffee at the Amazing Coffee corner, the Osotho Magazine photo exhibition, and sustainable shopping at eco-friendly Flea Market stalls. Visitors can take part in sustainability-themed workshops, attend talks with travel creatives, and access travel information at the 1672 Travel Buddy counter. Souvenir redemption is available through the Art Toy Journey Collection by collecting stamps—one per 100 Baht spent—with event passports, limited to 100 per day. Live entertainment includes DICE, the cast of GELBOYS: Unspoken Feelings, and a fan session with lead actors from RESET. Zone 2: Eastern Village Showcasing the eastern region’s diversity, this zone features Butterfly Kingdom from Pang Sida and Ta Phraya National Parks in Sa Kaeo, the iconic 2-metre “Nong Moo Deng” (bouncy pygmy hippo), and Bang Pu’s seagull-viewing point. More than 50 food stalls offer specialities like Rayong and Chanthaburi durian, crispy noodles with Marian plum, bamboo sticky rice shots, mantis shrimp noodles, and pork curry with chamuang. Visitors can enjoy DIY crafts, live music, cartoon mascots, cabaret and Tiffany’s performances, and puppet shows. Zone 3: Central Village This zone recreates Hua Lamphong Railway Station, the SRT Royal Blossom train, and Mrigadayavan Palace, offering vintage photo ops. The “Million Market” walking street serves up favourites like Boonlert’s roast pork noodles, Mae Lek’s khao chae, and Mae Thiam’s golden rolls. A nostalgic street food area offers giant rice crackers, sweet potato balls, and rocket soda. Performances include Sornram Nampech, Keng Tachaya, Koh Mr. Saxman, Suntaraporn ballroom, and 1970s-inspired music. Zone 4: Northern Village Set in a Modern Lanna-style atmosphere, this zone features a giant LED screen, a 3D animation of “Nong Ava” tiger cup of Chiang Mai Night Safari, the Blue Cave in Tak, and Chiang Mai’s Songkran celebration. Culinary highlights include Nam Ngiao curry noodles, Khao Hor Sao Laplae, and Khao Perb. The “Ministry of Happiness” offers drinks under the “365 DAYS COFFEE AT NORTH” theme. Relaxation options include treatments from Sappaya Spa (Mae Hong Son) and Sira Spa (Chiang Mai). Performers include John Nattachot, Better Weather, and students from northern dramatic arts colleges. Zone 5: Southern Village This zone celebrates southern culture with icons like the pink dolphin mascot, Surin Circle, Yaring Palace, and vibrant arches inspired by batik, pateh, and Nora-style art. At “Lard Roy Pae”, enjoy southern favourites including Betong chicken rice, grilled pork from Trang, GI-certified oysters, Esan teh tarik and roti, and Bara Roti. The “Lard Craft…Long Lae Ta” zone offers DIY activities using local materials, while “Lard Klai Sen” provides traditional southern massage. Evening shows include the UNESCO-listed Nora dance, teh tarik dance, and the lively Ram Wong Wian Krok, held daily from 18.00–19.00 Hrs. Zone 6: Northeastern Village Showcasing 20 Isan provinces under the theme “Isan Traditions: The Path of Faith,” the zone features a seven-metre incense tree, inspired by Chaiyaphum’s Boon Duen Sib festival, Yasothon’s rice garlands, and Loei’s Phi Ta Khon masks. In “Mong Zaep Nua”, over 40 vendors offer regional dishes like Jaew Hon hot pot, fermented sausage, Mee Kratok, and snacks like fried sour pork and black curry noodles. The “Mong Hed Sud Fai Mue” area features art therapy workshops, while “Isan Muan Suen” showcases luk thung music and cultural performances. Zone 7: TAT Partners and Travel Mall This zone features key partners of the TAT, including DASTA, EGAT, the Ministry of Culture, the Thai Chamber of Commerce, Thailand Post, the Tourist Police, PTT, NARIT, and the State Railway of Thailand. Visitors can also discover travel deals and packages from eight tourism bodies at the TAT Travel Mall, including the Tourism Council of Thailand and the Thai Ecotourism and Adventure Travel Association. Zone 8: Main Stage The Main Stage features a dynamic mix of music and cultural performances by top Thai artists such as Sornram Nampetch, Kantong Thungngoen, MEAN, ASIA 7, Earth Patravee, Renissara, Wangkangeng, Tai Orathai, Ryal Kajbandit, Aom-Aem Phetbanpaeng, Monica, Belle Warisara, Dokaor Thungthong, Ponchet, Peck Palitchoke, Suntaraporn, Goldred, Tao Phusilp, and Lek Ratchames. Fan meetings with Gulf Kanawut and Baifern Pimchanok add to the excitement. A centrepiece is the striking sculpture of a Bryde’s whale created by artist Wishulada from over 90 kilograms of plastic waste—offering a poignant statement on environmental responsibility. The zone features the Green Playground, with mapping of low-carbon destinations, and TAT ECO PARK, promoting sustainable travel. The programme concludes with a performance by Serious Bacon and a sustainability talk by Kong GREEN GREEN.

IndiGo launches direct flights from Bhubaneswar to Goa

IndiGo announces the launch of new direct flights connecting Bhubaneswar and Goa, commencing April 1, 2025. Experience the vibrance of Goa’s Shigmo Festival 2025

Goa’s most awaited spring festival, Shigmo, is set to bring the streets alive with a spectacular display of culture, tradition, and celebration. Goa Tourism showcases sustainable and experiential travel at SATTE 2025

The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, made a strong impression at South Asia’s Travel and Tourism Exchange (SATTE) 2025 with the grand inauguration of the Goa Pavilion at Yashobhoomi (IICC), New Delhi. The pavilion was officially inaugurated by the Minister for Tourism, Government of Goa, Rohan A. Khaunte, who is leading the Goa delegation at the event. Goa Tourism takes strong action against Shack Policy Violation

The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, has taken stringent action against a violation of the Goa State Shack Policy 2023-26. Based on a report submitted by the Police Inspector of Mandrem Police Station on January 27, 2025, it was found that Shri. Manuel Espritosanto Fernandes, allottee of Shack No. 4 at Arambol Beach Stretch, had sublet the beach shack in violation of Clause 20 of the policy. In view of this serious breach, the Department has imposed a penalty of ₹25,00,000 and forfeited the security deposit paid by the allottee to the Government Treasury. The shack license issued to Shri. Manuel Espritosanto Fernandes stands cancelled, and the erected Beach Shack No. 4 must be demolished within seven days from the receipt of the order. Failure to comply will result in the Department carrying out the demolition at the cost and risk of the allottee, with expenses recovered as arrears of land revenue. Additionally, Shri. Manuel Espritosanto Fernandes has been permanently blacklisted and debarred from participating in any future shack allotment processes under the Tourism Shack Policy. The Department of Tourism remains committed to upholding transparency and strict enforcement of regulations to maintain the integrity of Goa’s tourism sector.

OYO partners with the Goa Tourism Department, launches Accelerator Program

Tourism Minister, Rohan A.Khaunte with Shri Varun Jain, Chief Operating Officer, OYO   Tourism Minister of Goa, Rohan A. Khaunte launched OYO’s Accelerator Program in the state to help small first-generation hoteliers expand their operations across Goa and achieve long-term profitability. He presented cheques amounting to INR 25 lakhs to the five beneficiaries of OYO's Accelerator Program that include Roshan Oscar Abraam Lorena of Panjim, Ajay Singhal and Akhil Gupta of Calangute, and Mohammad Bakir Ali of Madgoan at a special ceremony held in Panaji. OYO is planning to add over 500 hotels and generate more than 5000 new jobs in the state over the next one year through this joint initiative with the department. These properties will be located across all key regions - north, central and south Goa. As part of the Accelerator Program, OYO is encouraging first generation hoteliers to innovate and enter new markets, expand their customer base, and increase earnings by offering them mentorship, access to technology, dedicated relationship managers, and financial support. These hoteliers will also be able to take advantage of OYO’s network of over 15,000 corporate accounts and more than 10,000 travel agents across India boost business prospects. The plan is also aligned with OYO’s focus on increasing its premium hotel footprint in India. OYO aims to increase the number of premium hotels under its brands such as Townhouse Oak, OYO Townhouse, Collection O and Capital O. “The Accelerator Program not only aligns with our vision of sustainable tourism but also provides a platform for small and mid-sized businesses to scale up their operations through strategic mentorship, technology integration, and financial support", said Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte. “This initiative underscores our collective responsibility to ensure that Goa remains at the forefront of global travel destinations while preserving its unique charm and heritage”, he added. Speaking on the development, Varun Jain, Chief Operating Officer, OYO said “We are excited to partner with Goa’s aspiring hoteliers, helping them realise their business potential. Our confidence in the success of this Program in Goa stems from the proven results we have witnessed in other states where it has already been implemented. These efforts have significantly increased occupancy rates and profitability for participating partners, while also enhancing the overall experience for the guests”. The beneficiaries of OYO's Accelerator Program expressed their gratitude for the support received from both OYO and the Goa government. One of the beneficiaries of the scheme, Roshan Oscar Abraam Lorena said "As an independent hotel operator, navigating the complexities of scaling up has always been a challenge. Goa gears up for Shigmo, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, and Carnaval

  Goa is all set to celebrate its most iconic festivals—Shigmotsav, Carnaval, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti—with grand fervour. Rohan A. Khaunte, along with GTDC Chairman Dr. Ganesh Gaonkar, Director of Tourism Shri Kedar Naik, and Managing Director of GTDC Shri Kuldeep Arolkar on January 24, 2025 chaired meetings with the organizing committees for Carnaval, Shigmotsav, and Shiv Jayanti.  These discussions focused on ensuring the successful execution of these events, with detailed planning on logistics, coordination, and promotional strategies to enhance their appeal and reach. The meeting was followed by a press conference where Director of Tourism Shri Kedar Naik, alongside Managing Director of GTDC Shri Kuldeep Arolkar and Dy. General Manager Mktg/ Hotels, GTDC Shri Deepak Narvekar officially announced the dates, centres and other details of the festivals. Also present for the meetings were the representatives of different Municipal Councils of different festival centres, representatives of the Police, Traffic Cell and Fire and Emergency services and others. Kedar Naik while addressing the media informed that the Carnaval will take place from February 28 to March 4, 2025, offering five days of colourful celebrations and float parades across Goa. A grand curtain-raiser in Porvorim on February 28 will set the tone for the event, followed by parades in Panaji on March 1, Margao on March 2, Vasco on March 3, and Mapusa and Morjim on March 4. This vibrant festival promises to attract tourists and locals alike with its lively atmosphere. The prize plus infrastructure money allotted for Panaji, Margao, Vasco and Mapusa carnaval organising committee is INR 27,35,000/- whereas that for Porvorim it's INR 17,35,000/- and for Morjim it's INR 14,25,000/-, he stated. Naik further informed that the Shigmo Festival, a grand 15-day celebration of Goa’s vibrant folk traditions, will be held from March 15 to March 29, 2025, with colorful float parades organized across 19 centres. The festivities will commence in Ponda on March 15, followed by Margao on March 16, Mandrem and Quepem on March 17, Shiroda and Curchorem on March 18, and Dharbandora on March 19. Calangute will host the parade on March 20, followed by Vasco on March 21 and Panaji on March 22. Parades in Mapusa and Sanguem are scheduled for March 23, while Canacona will celebrate on March 24 and Pernem on March 25. The celebrations continue in Valpoi and Cuncolim on March 26, Bicholim on March 27, Sanquelim on March 28, and will culminate in Porvorim on March 29. These parades will highlight Goa’s rich cultural heritage, featuring traditional music, dance, and artistic performances, offering locals and tourists an unforgettable experience. The meeting also included the significant decision to increase the prize money for the minor centers, namely Quepem, Bicholim, Valpoi, Canacona, Curchorem, Sanguem, Pernem, Cuncolim, Sanquelim, Dharbandora, Shiroda, and Calangute, by INR50,000/-. The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti will be celebrated on February 19, 2025, at multiple locations, including Panaji, Margao, Mapusa, Vasco, Ponda, Sanquelim, Porvorim, and Bicholim. To support these celebrations, a one-time grant of ₹5 lakh has been allocated to various committees in various cities to facilitate the events and ensure their success informed Shri Kedar Naik. Goa is all set to showcase its vibrant culture through these grand celebrations, promising a memorable experience for all. These events reflect the state's dedication to preserving its rich traditions while fostering tourism.
