Delta to fly nonstop to Copenhagen and Stockholm through its partnership with SAS this summer
Scandinavia comes alive during Midsummer in late June, when locals celebrate with flower crowns, outdoor feasts, and nearly endless daylight near the Arctic Circle. As the sun dips low but never disappears, the sky glows with watercolor hues and bonfires, wildflowers, and maypole dances mark the region’s most treasured traditions. It’s an authentic and vibrant tribute to light, nature, and togetherness and one of the most immersive and cultural experiences of the Nordic summer. Some midsummer celebrations include: SWEDEN There is perhaps no better place to celebrate Midsummer than in Dalarna, Sweden. Known for its deep-rooted traditions and rural charm, Midsummer in Dalarna feels like stepping into a Swedish fairy tale with its charming cottages, flower-crowned dancers and crystal-clear lakes reflecting the sunset for hours on end. Visitors are welcome to join locals for the celebrations, including raising the maypole and dancing to folk music. Midsummer in Dalarna is more than just a celebration- it is deeply tied to Sweden’s identity, heritage and the rhythm of the seasons. DENMARK Denmark celebrates Sankt Hans Aften during the Midsummer period, and it is best enjoyed near the coast or in a charming small town where traditions are strong. Skagen at Denmark’s northernmost point offers a dreamy, coastal Midsummer with long sunsets and bonfires right on the beach. If something more cosmopolitan is desired, look no further than Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. Visitors will find a lively, family friendly Sankt Hans celebration with bonfires, music and traditional food. Several of the city's parks also host public bonfires for all to join in. NORWAY There is perhaps no better place to celebrate Midsummer in Norway than near the Lofoten Islands. Located within the Arctic Circle, visitors will experience true Midnight Sun as the sun never sets! Small villages in the region will hold traditional bonfires on beaches or rocky outcrops, creating dramatic scenes against the glowing sky. Visitors can also visit Bergen, Norway’s second-largest city, surrounded by fjords and mountains for bonfires along the waterfront and musical performances. Young woman hiker admires the stunning fjord under a blue sky, illuminated by soft light from the midnight sun. As she walks through the grass, sunbeams highlight the beauty of sunrise and sunset over Lofoten Islands, Norway Delta is expanding access to the Nordics with seasonal service designed to help U.S. travelers experience the magic of the season and all that the region has to offer. With Delta and through our new partnership with SAS, it’s never been easier to chase the midnight sun: New nonstop Delta service from Minneapolis–St. Paul to Copenhagen (3x weekly), beginning May 22 Direct, daily summer service from New York–JFK (JFK) to Copenhagen (CPH) and JFK to Stockholm (ARN) which both started on April 14. Through Delta’s partnership with SAS, customers flying from North America will gain access to 35 additional destinations throughout Scandinavia with one layover or less: 6 destinations in Denmark 14 destinations in Norway 15 destinations in Sweden All of these destinations served by SAS can now be booked directly on delta.com where you can earn and redeem SkyMiles on eligible travel. As ‘coolcations’ become a major travel trend for 2025, Scandinavia continues to grow in popularity for travelers. Whether they are looking to escape the summer heat back home, a deeper connection to nature in the pristine fjords and mountains of Norway, or the Michelin Guide life in Denmark and Sweden, there truly is something for every traveler- no matter the time of year.

Delta continues its Normandy Legacy Flight
For the fourth consecutive year, Delta is proud to continue its Normandy Legacy Flight, supporting the first-of-its-kind program that flies World War II veterans and students back to Normandy, France to commemorate the anniversary of the D-Day invasion, honour the legacy of these heroes and educate the next generation. In partnership with Michelin, Delta and Best Defence Foundation will support the return of approximately 30 veterans to Normandy. In addition to supporting the week-long events, the global airline will host a nonstop charter flight directly from Atlanta to Deauville, Normandy Airport on May 31, arriving in Deauville on June 1 and returning to Atlanta on June 9. This will mark only the fourth time a U.S. passenger airline will fly directly to Normandy, with the other three being the Delta charter flights from 2022-2024. While there, veterans will participate in a series of special commemorative events that honour the memory, legacy and sacrifice of the service members – fuelling cross-cultural connection and education. "It is our honour and privilege to continue this historic charter and week-long celebration as a journey of remembrance and gratitude, dedicated to our World War II heroes," said Delta CEO Ed Bastian. "Delta has a deep history of supporting our military service members and veterans, and this program is one of the many ways we live our values in service of those who served us.” As part of the program, Best Defence Foundation provides caregivers for each WWII veteran throughout the trip, including Delta team members from its Veterans Business Resource Group (BRG) and other BRGs. BRG volunteers will receive specialized training and be paired 1:1 with veterans, cultivating an environment for ongoing support and meaningful connection. Delta has also partnered with Aviramp, an award-winning UK manufacturer of boarding equipment, to provide a safe and comfortable boarding and deplaning experience for the veterans, regardless of their mobility. “Each year, we remain committed to honouring the sacrifices of our WWII veterans by bringing them back to the battlefields where they served,” said Donnie Edwards – President and Co-Founder Best Defence Foundation. “As we return to Normandy for the 81st anniversary, we continue our proud partnership with Delta Air Lines to provide these heroes the opportunity for reflection, remembrance, and camaraderie. Their stories are a living testament to history, and we are grateful to stand beside them as we pay tribute to their legacy.” As part of Delta’s ongoing commitment to honour the legacy of WWII veterans and ensure their stories are never forgotten, the airline will once again partner with the Best Defence Foundation to bring 10 students through its NextGen Program to Normandy. This fully immersive experience will allow students to walk in the footsteps of history alongside the veterans who lived it, visiting historic sites and attending the Freedom Prize ceremony in Caen on June 3. “Eighty-one years after the D-Day landings, Normandy continues to show its gratitude and eternal recognition to the heroes who liberated its territory, France, and Europe at the risk of their lives,” said Hervé Morin – President of Normandy. “It will be a great honour for me to welcome these veterans, like previous years, to the Abbaye aux Dames in Caen to celebrate this great moment in the history of humanity and the return of democracy and peace. We are honoured by their participation along with the American students at the Freedom Prize ceremony.”

Delta and LATAM expand Joint Venture to Argentina
The expansion will give customers access to a broader network of more than 200 destinations across the United States, Canada and Argentina, delivering enhanced travel options and a more consistent customer experience. Delta and LATAM have expanded the scope of their Joint Venture (JV) to include Argentina, building on two years of successful partnership. The expansion will give customers access to a broader network of more than 200 destinations across the United States, Canada and Argentina, delivering enhanced travel options and a more consistent customer experience. With this agreement, customers in Argentina will benefit from improved connectivity to Delta’s comprehensive network in North America, as well as the ability to earn miles across both carriers’ frequent flyer programs—Delta SkyMiles and LATAM Pass. This strategic move reflects the shared commitment of both airlines to deliver greater value and service to customers across the region. The Delta-LATAM Joint Venture offers reciprocal benefits for SkyMiles and LATAM Pass members. In addition to earning miles, SkyMiles members can already redeem miles on LATAM-operated flights. In the months ahead, LATAM Pass members will gain the same ability to redeem on Delta-operated flights. This further expands travel opportunities and access to a robust network spanning both continents. Elite members of both programs will also enjoy enhanced benefits, including access to Delta Sky Clubs and LATAM Lounges, priority check-in and boarding, additional baggage allowances, and complimentary seat selection—creating a more elevated experience for frequent travelers. The JV expansion also strengthens the cargo offering between Argentina, the United States and Canada. By leveraging the combined networks and capabilities of both carriers, customers shipping cargo will benefit from more flight options, streamlined connections and integrated logistics solutions. Delta and LATAM have obtained the final prior regulatory approval required to implement Argentina's addition to the joint venture. Likewise, the companies have already notified the operation for post-implementation evaluation by the National Commission for the Defense of Competition in Argentina.
Study shows Delta Air Lines is best US airline for travelling with pets
A recent study in the United States has revealed the top ten pet-friendly airlines in the country, with Delta Air Lines coming out on top. Delta came out with a nearly perfect 99 out of 100 points, putting it first over its competitors. The airline took full marks in several categories, but stood out for the unprecedented perk of letting passengers bring a total of four pets on their flights, the most of any airline surveyed. Other airlines in the top ten are as follows: Southwest Airlines, American Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Spirit Airlines, Allegiant Air, SkyWest Airlines, and United Airlines. Criteria for judging included the following: Number of traveler reviews mentioning ‘pet friendly’ Variety of pet types allowed onboard Cost of pet fees Maximum number of pets allowed per passenger Availability of in-cabin and cargo travel options A few pointers for travelling with pets While travelling with pets is challenging in and of itself, there are a number of ways by which pet owners can ensure that their fur-babies can travel in comfort, style, and safety. WorldCare Pet Transport senior vice-president of operations Brian Hahn offers the following guidelines: Kennel acclimatisation is a step you shouldn’t skip Get your kennel well in advance and place it in the middle of a room your pet frequently visits. Begin feeding your pet in the kennel; over time, they will start to feel more comfortable, which will lead to a much smoother transport experience. Also, be sure your pet travels with a T-shirt, blanket, or towel that smells like home, as your scent will help ease their anxiety during travel. Nix overfeeding or over-exercising when your arrive This can significantly reduce the risk of canine bloat, a potentially fatal condition in dogs. Humans aren’t the only ones who need medical certificates The letter should clearly state the type of medication, administration method, dosage, and how many times it is given per day. Only send the medication your pet will need for the trip, and keep it in its original packaging. Any extra may be discarded by customs officials.
Delta takes lessons from nature to drive fuel efficiency
From Airbus’ fello’fly technique which takes inspiration from migrating geese to MicroTau’s ‘shark skin’ addition to planes – the airline industry continues to look to nature for innovation inspiration. Delta Air Lines is adding a new partner to its Sustainable Skies Lab that is driving fuel efficiencies inspired by an unlikely source: sharks. MicroTau is an Australian aerospace technology company developing a ‘Riblet Modification Package’ that mimics shark skin to drive drag reduction. Delta will begin testing MicroTau’s “shark skin” riblets on the Boeing 767 fleet. This “shark skin” technology can be applied to an aircraft’s fuselage, wings and tail, and once applied, can improve fuel efficiency by up to 4%, according to MicroTau’s estimations. MicroTau’s Riblet Modification Package applied to a US Air Force Lockheed Martin C-130J during testing Despite their smooth appearance, the skin of sharks is covered in a layer of microscopic grooves called dermal denticles, which help a shark swim more efficiently and expend less energy. Applying these microscopic grooves, often called riblets, to the exterior of an aircraft can reduce drag by smoothing air flow, which helps reduce fuel consumption. Delta’s Sustainable Skies Lab is an innovation incubator, partnering with disruptors Delta believes will help revolutionize how the industry flies more sustainably. Since its 2023 inception, the Lab is comprised of a number of partnerships, including Airbus, Boeing, JetZero and Joby Aviation. “Delta’s Sustainable Skies Lab bridges the gap between ideas and proven innovation by accelerating research, design and testing for a more sustainable future of air travel,” said Sustainable Skies Director, Sangita Sharma. “Collaborating with innovative partners lets us explore both changes that can be implemented in the near-term, and longer-term initiatives that will revolutionize how we think about flying for years to come.” Every year, Delta’s Sustainable Skies Lab welcomes new partners capable of helping Delta make changes within its control today to save on jet fuel and reduce carbon emissions, while innovating with others on revolutionary aircraft of the future. INSPIRATION FROM NATURE From Airbus’ fello’fly technique which takes inspiration from migrating geese to MicroTau’s ‘shark skin’ addition to planes – the airline industry continues to look to nature for innovation inspiration. Sangita Sharma (far right) at a fello'fly exercise with Airbus alongside Delta team members from Flight Operations and the Operations & Customer Center. Another example is finlets. Finlets are fins, similar to the ones fish have, that can be installed on the back of an aircraft on the fuselage to reshape airflow and reduce drag, ultimately leading to reduced fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Delta has been working with Vortex Control Technologies (VCT) to install and test finlets on select aircraft in Delta’s 737 fleet. The science behind finlets is similar to winglets – which Delta has added to all existing fleets that can be modified – in that when they are added, they can reduce drag by minimizing the effects of vortices that form in specific regions around the aircraft. With approximately 90% of Delta’s carbon emissions coming from jet fuel each year, every decision and modification can drive fuel savings that add up, and these decisions are indicative of Delta’s commitment to make changes within its control on existing fleet, while also purchasing next-gen fleet that’s more fuel-efficient and supporting research into aircraft that will help Delta reach its decarbonization goals.
Delta Air Lines announces March quarter 2025 financial results
Delta Air Lines reported financial results for the March quarter and provided its outlook for the June quarter. “While the first quarter unfolded differently than initially expected, we delivered solid profitability that was flat to prior year and is expected to lead the industry," said Delta CEO Ed Bastian. "I would like to thank our people for their outstanding performance and hard work during the quarter." “With broad economic uncertainty around global trade, growth has largely stalled. In this slower-growth environment, we are protecting margins and cash flow by focusing on what we can control. This includes reducing planned capacity growth in the second half of the year to flat over last year while actively managing costs and capital expenditures.” “We expect June quarter profitability of $1.5 to $2 billion. Given the lack of economic clarity, it is premature at this time to provide an updated full-year outlook. Given our position of strength, our bias toward action and the decline in fuel prices, Delta remains well positioned to deliver solid profitability and free cash flow for the year. I expect that our financial results will continue to lead the industry and validate our strategy to create differentiation and greater financial durability.” March Quarter 2025 GAAP Financial Results Operating revenue of $14.0 billion Operating income of $569 million with an operating margin of 4.0 percent Pre-tax income of $320 million with a pre-tax margin of2.3 percent Earnings per share of $0.37 Operating cash flow of $2.4 billion Payments on debt and finance lease obligations of $531 million Total debt and finance lease obligations of $15.8 billion at quarter end
