Carnival Cruise Line Introduces Carnival Festivale, Carnival Tropicale, and New Outdoor Adventures
With over 50 years of delighting passengers, Carnival Cruise Line marked a milestone at Seatrade Cruise Global 2025 by unveiling two new Excel-class ships: Carnival Festivale and Carnival Tropicale. These announcements were made during a special pre-event held aboard Carnival Celebration in Miami, Florida, by none other than Carnival Cruise Line’s President Christine Duffy. Paying Tribute to Carnival’s Heritage Set to launch in 2027 and 2028 respectively, these 180,000-gross-ton LNG-powered vessels will continue the cruise line’s tradition of honouring its past while innovating for the future. The names Carnival Festivale and Carnival Tropicale pay homage to two of Carnival’s original ships, the MS Festivale (1977) and MS Tropicale (1981). In fact, MS Tropicale was Carnival’s first purpose-built vessel and introduced the iconic whale-tail funnel that has become synonymous with the brand. “These spectacular additions to our fleet reflect the respect we have for our history while looking ahead to an exciting future,” said Duffy, who is celebrating her 10th year at the helm of Carnival Cruise Line. Carnival Festivale: A Musical Journey Scheduled to debut in spring 2027, Carnival Festivale will showcase a music-inspired theme, with passengers enjoying musical tributes across the ship. It will call Port Canaveral, Florida, home and introduce new itineraries to Carnival’s private destinations, Celebration Key and Half Moon Cay. Among its exciting features is Sunsation Point, a brand-new outdoor activity area that replaces the BOLT rollercoaster. This three-deck space will include: WaterWorks Ultra: Carnival’s largest water park, with four new waterslides, a family raft ride, and splash zones. Adventure Play: Mini golf, a ropes course, and arcade-style games. Evening Entertainment: Select nights will see Sunsation Point come alive with DJs, extended water park hours, and illuminated deck-wide fun. Carnival Tropicale: Continuing the Tradition Launching in 2028, Carnival Tropicale will carry forward many of the features introduced on Carnival Festivale. While further details are yet to be announced, the ship is expected to showcase its own unique theme while enhancing Carnival’s family-friendly offerings. A Family-Focused Future Both ships will significantly expand amenities for families, including 1,000 interconnecting staterooms—a 70% increase over previous Excel-class ships—and a dedicated Turtles area for babies as young as six months. Youth programs will also be expanded, solidifying Carnival’s reputation as the ultimate family cruise line. “We sail more families and more kids than any other cruise line,” added Duffy. “Sunsation Point and WaterWorks Ultra are going to be over-the-top with activities and fun for all ages.” What’s Next? These announcements highlight Carnival Cruise Line’s commitment to innovation while maintaining a strong connection to its history. As the fourth and fifth Excel-class ships, Carnival Festivale and Carnival Tropicale are set to take the cruising experience to the next level. For more surprises, Carnival hints that additional reveals are on the horizon at Seatrade Cruise Global, keeping fans and travel professionals alike eagerly awaiting the next chapter in its storied legacy. Ready to set sail? These new ships are bringing even more fun to the high seas.
Carnival Cruise Line Expands Down Under with Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter
In a monumental step for Carnival Cruise Line, the world’s most popular cruise operator has introduced two new ships to Australia: Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter. These vibrant vessels are set to redefine cruising for guests departing from Sydney and Brisbane, marking an exciting new chapter for Carnival as Australia’s leading cruise operator. A Celebratory Launch in Sydney and Brisbane Last Friday, Carnival Adventure was officially welcomed into the Carnival fleet during a special celebration at Sydney Harbour, led by Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy. The festivities continued on Saturday in Brisbane, where Carnival Encounter celebrated its debut at its homeport. On the same day, eager guests boarded both ships for their maiden Carnival voyages, promising fun-filled adventures ahead. P&O Meets Carnival: A Seamless Integration Previously known as Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter, these ships have undergone a transformation to embody Carnival’s iconic brand, while retaining some of P&O Australia’s favourite features. Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter now join Carnival Splendor and Carnival Luminosa as part of Carnival’s fleet in Australia, with the cruise line anticipating over 500,000 guests to set sail from local homeports this year. President Christine Duffy shared her excitement: “Doubling the fun in our Australia homeports enables us to deliver more sailing options, offer more variety, and deepen our partnerships in the Sydney and Brisbane communities.” Enhanced Technology and Loyalty Perks Guests aboard Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter can now enjoy Carnival’s industry-leading HubApp, available for dining and excursion bookings, chatting with fellow guests, and exploring onboard activities—all conveniently accessible on personal devices. Moreover, passengers are eligible to join Carnival’s VIFP Club loyalty program, gaining access to exclusive promotions and perks. Onboard Fun for Everyone Carnival’s signature fun and friendly atmosphere takes centre stage aboard both ships. Guests can look forward to: Dining Highlights: Beloved options like Luke’s Bar & Grill offer delicious, casual fare. Entertainment Galore: Comedy shows, 80s Rock and Glow nights, and deck parties hosted by Carnival’s Fun Squad ensure lively evenings. Family-Friendly Activities: Build-A-Bear workshops, Seuss at Sea, and Camp Ocean provide memorable experiences for younger guests. Whether it’s enjoying Carnival’s signature FUN or discovering new favourites, Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter deliver a unique mix of excitement and relaxation for passengers of all ages. A Record-Breaking Fleet With the addition of these two ships, Carnival Cruise Line now boasts the largest fleet in its 53-year history, with a total of 29 ships. Carnival’s expansion in Australia solidifies its position as a leader in the region, offering unparalleled variety, convenience, and fun-filled experiences. A New Era for Australian Cruising The relaunch of Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter signals the end of P&O Cruises Australia as a standalone brand but ushers in an exciting new chapter for Carnival in Australia. Carnival Cruise Line’s expanded presence offers travellers more choices, immersive itineraries, and unforgettable experiences, whether sailing to Papua New Guinea, the South Pacific, or the Great Barrier Reef.

Carnival Unveils Exciting Rebranding Plans for P&O Cruises Australia
Carnival Corporation & plc has announced exciting changes for Australian cruisers: the P&O Cruises Australia brand will be dissolved, and two of its three ships will be integrated into Carnival Cruise Line’s fleet. This transition means more fun and adventure on the horizon for Aussie travellers. A New Era of Fun The rebranding of P&O Cruises Australia’s Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter into Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter will see Carnival Cruise Line doubling its presence in Australia. Carnival Adventure will sail year-round from Sydney, joining Carnival Splendor, while Carnival Encounter will be homeported in Brisbane alongside Carnival Luminosa, which also sails from Brisbane during the summer season before heading to Alaska for the northern hemisphere’s summer. The fun kicks off in March 2025, with a host of exciting redesigns and new experiences to be introduced before the ships’ first sailings under the Carnival banner. Signature Carnival Experiences Kara Glamore, VP of Sales and Marketing, highlighted the unique opportunity this transition presents. “This transition presents a unique opportunity to combine the best of P&O Cruises Australia and Carnival Cruise Line as the brand expands its footprint in Australia,” she said. Other Carnival favourites making their way to Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter include the Build-a-Bear activity, KultureCity sensory kits, and more. Honouring P&O Cruises Heritage While embracing new Carnival fun, the two ships will retain some beloved P&O Cruises features. “P&O fans will recognise many of their favourite dining and entertainment options, while experiencing the added fun and flair that Carnival is famous for around the world,” said Deborah Cogin, VP Guest Experience. Luke’s Bar & Grill and Luke’s Burgers, along with New Zealand Natural ice cream, will remain onboard. The Edge Adventure Park will continue to offer thrilling activities like zip lining, balancing, and climbing.
