Under the theme “Flickering Shores, Sea Imaginaries”, Sea Art Festival in Busan runs until November 19
Organized by the Busan Biennale Organizing Committee, Sea Art Festival is one of the most seminal and accessible outdoor art exhibitions in South Korea. The festival celebrates Busan's coastline as a source of inspiration, and is held at Ilgwang Beach and nearby indoor venues between October 14 and November 19, 2023. The festival opens to the public for free. It aims to explore the roles of coastal cities and communities as an interconnected global network and considers the sea's recovery and the potential therein. Through various mediums, such as sculpture, installation, video, and two-dimensional art, the participating artists invite viewers to imagine shared values and actions for an alternative future of coastal communities. UK-based Greek curator, Irini Papadimitriou, leads this year's edition as Artistic Director. Under the title "Flickering Shores, Sea Imaginaries", the festival attempts to look at the reality of our relationship with the sea in a new way, while generating inclusive, creative, and innovative ideas rooted in symbiosis and collectiveness. In essence, this exhibition allows visitors to reimagine our relationship with the ocean, its species, and its environment through arts and culture. It features 31 teams (43 people) from 20 countries, including artists Yang Jazoo, Muhannad Shono, Ari Bayuaji, Kim Doki, Jang Seungwook, and more. The Sea Art Festival Lab is a space for research and creative work on explorations of the sea, art, and science, and linking art and cultural institutions with the marine ecosystem. Papadimitriou explains, "Art is a great force for changing our attitudes and perspectives. Our hope here is to connect fields such as art, research, industry, and marine science in order to open up new possibilities." In addition to the exhibition, a manifesto project, academic symposium, and public programs led by participating artists will also be held. The manifesto project invites experts across different fields, including Korean and international oceanographers, scientists, artists and environmentalists, to gather to write a manifesto, starting with a common framework for restoring sustainable relationships between marine communities. The manifesto will be used as a design element for the indoor exhibition venue to reflect the themes and message of the festival, which artists have incorporated into their artworks.

Here’s why Busan, South Korea is the perfect venue for World Expo 2030
Busan, South Korea is hard at work to be the confirmed venue for World Expo 2030. If chosen as host, the city will use the slogan “Transforming the world, navigating toward a better future” to promote achievements in science and technology and other industries, present a new vision for the future, and introduce the diverse attractions of Busan on the international stage. Several Korean companies and government organisations came together to win the bid to host the World Expo 2030. The Korean government designated the campaign to win the World Expo bid as a national project and has been providing active support for campaign activities at the government level. The global K-Pop group, BTS, was appointed as the official ambassador for World Expo 2030 Busan, and the group held a concert in October in Busan as a part of their promotional activities. The Busan Tourism Organization is consistently promoting the city at MICE events. Banners and placards are placed around Taejongdae Resort Park and decorative magnets using Busan’s mascot “Boogi” are gifted to MICE event participants and key decision makers as part of the organisation’s dedicated support of promoting Busan as the host of the World Expo 2030. During the London Royal Docks Festival, the Korea Tourism Organization set up a PR booth where they distributed brochures and devoted their focus to helping Busan win its bid as a host. Meanwhile, South Korean tech company LG is playing promotional videos supporting Busan’s bid to host the World Expo on billboards in New York Times Square and Piccadilly Square in the UK. There is no doubt that Busan is ready to host the World Expo 2030. Here are some reasons why Busan in South Korea is the perfect venue for the upcoming event. World Expos welcome tens of millions of visitors, allow countries to build extraordinary pavilions and transform the host city for years to come. Thanks to its efforts to become a city for bleisure, it is recognised as one of the top five most promising convention cities in the world and ranked 5th in Asia and 17th worldwide as a top international conference host. Abundant tourism resources Busan is a highly-rated tourist destination in South Korea. Transportation hub Busan is an ideal location for MICE because of its proximity to the Gimhae International Airport, making Busan a real transportation hub. A one-way trip from the Gimhae Airport to downtown Busan takes just under 40 minutes. Being a seaport town, travellers can also take the ferry from Japan to Korea to experience a pleasant and romantic route by sea. If travelling from Seoul, riding the train in Korea is the most convenient way of getting around as it allows passengers to have exact plans. There are 3 kinds of trains being used to get to Busan Station, KTX-Sancheon, ITX-Saemaeul and Mugunghwa. The bus is the most economical option to travel from Seoul to Busan. Bleisure in Busan
Source: Busan Tourism Organization In May 2022, the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) board of directors selected Busan as the venue for the 2025 WADA World Conference. Starting from 27 September, the board conducted an initial, three-day inspection of Busan. On 28 September, an agreement signing ceremony was held at the Nurimaru APEC House. Busan is a global MICE city whose reputation is growing stronger by the day. With the end of the COVID pandemic in sight, the global MICE industry is resuming business as usual. In the first half of this year alone, the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO) held over 100 more events than it did all of last year. MICE experts highlight the geographical advantages of the coastal city of Busan and its world-class MICE infrastructure as some of the city's strengths as a top MICE destination. Still, Busan MICE organizers are always looking for ways to improve the MICE experiences that they offer visitors. Ideal City for the Hosting of International Events Busan's marine environment is what has won its acclaim as Korea's only "bleisure" (business + leisure) city. The fact that MICE visitors to Busan can experience a myriad of seaside activities after attending their official events is one of Busan's most powerful draws. These activities are clustered in "Haevenue" (Haeundae + avenue), an area in the Haeundae district in Busan that is at the center of Busan's MICE infrastructure and home to BEXCO as well as a host of hotels, lodgings, and tourist attractions. Busan also has an ideal location because of its proximity to the Gimhae International Airport, making Busan a real transportation hub. In fact, a one-way trip from the Gimhae Airport to downtown Busan takes just under 40 minutes. MICE events held in Busan are practically a guaranteed success So far in the second half of 2022, BEXCO has hosted a diverse range of international conferences and some of the world's most important academic events, such as the International Astronomical Union (IAU) General Assembly and the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) World Congress. Participants of events held at BEXCO typically enjoy banquets, performances, cultural experiences, tourism, and much more during their time in Busan. Busan's continual hosting of successful events is a constant reminder to the world of its prowess as a MICE city that should not be overlooked when selecting a host city for an upcoming MICE event. Marine leisure and sports in Busan The beautiful beaches of Busan offer all kinds of marine leisure and sports all throughout the year, and the city itself offers MICE visitors plenty of chances to enjoy sightseeing. Busan MICE organizers do everything they can to ensure that MICE visitors have the time of their lives while in Busan and offer a range of tourism products so that MICE attendees can create memories to last a lifetime. Paddle-boarding is one of the many marine tourism activities of Busan. Paddle-boarding is an easy and fun activity, perfect even for beginners, and paddle boards rentals are available at both Gwangalli Beach and Dadaepo Beach. The best time to go paddle-boarding is in the late afternoon, when you enjoy the stunning scene of the sun setting out over the water. Another marine activity popularly enjoyed by tourists is kayaking on Suyeong River, which not only provides great river views but also a chance to bond with your fellow paddlers. Suyeong River is located close to BEXCO, as is Busan Cinema Center, a perfect destination for those looking for a less active travel experience. 2025 WADA conference to take place in Busan In May 2022, the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) board of directors selected Busan as the venue for the 2025 WADA World Conference. Starting from 27 September, the board conducted an initial, three-day inspection of Busan. On 28 September, an agreement signing ceremony was held at the Nurimaru APEC House. The signing of the agreement between WADA and the city of Busan was followed by special presentations, including some by Busan universities. The four-day 2025 WADA World Conference is scheduled to start on 10 October 2025 and is excepted to be attended by over 2,000 international participants. The city of Busan is honored to be hosting the first-ever WADA World Conference to be held in Korea and sees the event as an opportunity to demonstrate its MICE prowess to the world. Busan's world-class MICE infrastructure, known for its easily accessible transportation and marine tourism, makes it the ideal host city for international events. Busan is constantly seeking to improve and make every event held on its coastline better than the last.

All of MICE facilities for conventions, exhibitions, shopping, shows, tours, and team building are accessible in 20-30 minutes walk or 10 minutes drive, regardless of event size. Furthermore, as the BEXCO Exhibition Center III and other new places will open gradually in 2023, the potential and expandability of HAEVENUE are expected together with profitability. As aforementioned, HAEVENUE has run various projects. First, the unique brand of HAEVENUE was developed to promote Busan as an attractive convention city. Busan Tourism Organization hosted HAEVENUE WEEK while organizing the social media hashtag campaigns, and invited global conference leaders to the Haeundae Conference Complex Roadshow. Moreover, the specialized business program for HAEVENUE supported the global conferences taking place in the unique venues with the charm of Busan, based on the complex.
