Qatar Airways nears Boeing 777 fleet-wide starlink upgrade, set to expand to Airbus A350 this Month
Qatar Airways, the largest global airline offering Starlink’s high-speed internet on-board, is now a few aircraft away from completing its Boeing 777 fleet-wide upgrade. The airline’s rapid rollout reinforces in-flight innovation leadership and marks one of the fastest and most ambitious Starlink installations in the aviation industry. In its latest global first, Qatar Airways will begin equipping its Airbus A350 fleet with Starlink Wi-Fi this month, becoming the first airline in the world to bring this cutting-edge connectivity to passengers onboard the Airbus A350 aircraft type. This expansion follows the airline’s success with the Boeing 777 and will see even more passengers enjoying fully complimentary, ultra-fast Wi-Fi for streaming, gaming, and working seamlessly at 35,000 feet. Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, said: “We are just a few aircraft away from completing a full fleet-wide upgrade of our Boeing 777s with Starlink connectivity—an industry-first for a widebody fleet of this scale. EVA Air expands fleet with more A350-1000 and A321neo aircraft
Taiwan’s EVA Air has placed a firm order for six long-range A350-1000s and three single-aisle A321neo aircraft, finalising a commitment announced by the airline in March 2025. The new orders will bring EVA Air’s backlog of aircraft to be delivered to 24 A350-1000s and 18 A321neo aircraft. “The new additions to our fleet reaffirm our commitment to sustainable aviation and delivering an exceptional travel experience. Both the A350-1000 and A321neo set a high standard in their respective categories, offering remarkable efficiency and comfort to our passengers. The A350 is the world’s most modern and efficient widebody aircraft and has set new standards for intercontinental travel. It offers the longest range capability of any commercial airliner in production today. Powered by the latest generation of Rolls-Royce engines, the aircraft is capable of flying up to 9,700 nautical miles / 18,000 kilometres non-stop, using 25% less fuel than previous generation types and with a similar reduction in carbon emissions. As with all Airbus aircraft, the A350 is already able to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Airbus is targeting to have its aircraft up to 100% SAF capable by 2030. The A350 Family has received more than 1,360 orders from 60 customers worldwide, with more than 640 aircraft currently in the fleets of 38 operators, flying primarily on long-haul routes. The A321neo is part of the A320neo Family, incorporating the latest technologies including new generation engines, Sharklets and cabin efficiency enablers, which together deliver 20% fuel savings. With over 6,800 orders by more than 90 customers since its launch in 2016, the A321neo has captured more than 80 percent share of the market.
China Airlines orders ten Airbus A350-1000s
Taiwanese carrier China Airlines signed a firm order with Airbus for ten A350-1000s, finalising a commitment announced by the airline in December 2024. The new A350-1000s will fly long-haul routes to North America and Europe, and will provide full operational commonality with the airline’s existing A350-900 fleet, ensuring seamless integration and efficiency. Airline chair Kao Shing-Hwang said: “Our investment in the A350-1000 supports our international growth strategy and reflects our commitment to improving the travel experience for our passengers. We are confident that the A350-1000, with its superior range, fuel efficiency and comfort, will play a key role in transforming our long-haul operations.” Airbus executive vice-president of sales for commercial aircraft Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business added: “We welcome China Airlines to our fast-growing family of A350-1000 operators. In addition, it operates 15 A321neo and 16 A330s on services in the region. Emirates discloses seven more destinations to be served with A350
Emirates has revealed the next seven cities to be served by its A350, as more newly delivered aircraft featuring the airline’s latest cabin innovations enter scheduled service. With the latest tranche of planned Emirates A350 deployments, the airline is expanding the list of its short to medium haul destinations served in the Middle East/GCC and Europe. For the first time, the Emirates A350 will make its debut in Africa and Southeast Asia. Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, Emirates Airline said: “Our strategic A350 expansion across diverse geographies in the Middle East/GCC, Europe, Africa and Southeast Asia leverages the aircraft’s operational flexibility and efficiency, while offering more customers expanded premium travel options and the opportunity to experience our latest generation interiors like Business Class and Premium Economy along with plenty of thoughtful touches throughout every cabin, now available in more cities than ever before.” He added: “The introduction of this aircraft and layering it on existing route schedules also enables Emirates to maintain a compelling competitive position as the airline of choice for discerning travellers looking for a unique slate of connectivity options and elevated onboard experiences they can't have with any other carrier.” The airline's latest A350 fleet additions will start scheduled operations to the following destinations: Emirates will operate the A350 six times weekly (all days except for Tuesday) to Tunis on EK 747/748 from 1 June.* Amman’s EK 905/906 will be served daily by the Emirates A350 from 1 June.* Emirates’ A350 featuring the latest cabins will land in Istanbul for the first time to commence daily operations on EK 117/118 from 1 July.* The Emirates A350’s first debut to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on its Dammam services will start on 1 July on flights EK 827/828.* The Emirates A350’s first foray into Southeast Asia will begin 1 August on the daily EK364/365 to Ho Chi Minh City.* Emirates will operate its A350 to Baghdad three times weekly (Monday, Wednesday and Sunday) on EK 941/942 from 3 August.* The Emirates A350 will debut in Oslo for the first time from 1 September on its daily EK 159/160.* Emirates will announce more A350 destinations, including long-haul routes, in the coming months as new aircraft join its fleet. In addition to the newly added cities, Emirates will layer on more A350 services to Bahrain and Kuwait. Bahrain will become a nearly all-A350 operation with the addition of the third daily EK 835/836 flight from 1 June. Kuwait will be served by a second A350 flight on the daily EK 857/858 from 1 October. In addition, Bologna will receive its first A350 on 1 June, one month ahead of its latest announced deployment date. Emirates flights to the seven A350 destinations go on sale today and can be booked on emirates.com, the Emirates App, Emirates Retail Stores, or via travel agents. The Emirates A350 features three spacious cabin classes, accommodating 312 passengers in 32 next-generation Business Class lie-flat seats in a 1-2-1 configuration and a mini-bar for quick snacks, 21 Premium Economy seats and 259 generously pitched Economy Class seats. The latest onboard products reflect the airline’s commitment to delivering a premium passenger experience along with elevated comfort across every cabin class. Air India, India’s leading global airline, is showcasing its latest Business Class and Premium Economy seats from its retrofitted A320 family aircraft and a virtual reality journey of the state-of-the-art A350 aircraft at South Asia's Travel & Tourism Exchange (SATTE) 2025 taking place from 19 to 21 February 2025 at Yashobhoomi (India International Convention and Expo Centre), New Delhi. Air India’s booth at the travel and tourism exhibition draws inspiration from the airline’s signature gold window frame, ‘The Vista,’ that stands out as a key design element, seamlessly combining aesthetics with immersive digital interactions. At the pavilion, Air India aims to offer its visitors an opportunity to witness the airline’s transformation journey through live demonstrations of Business Class and Premium Economy seats of the newly retrofitted A320 family aircraft. Air India currently offers Premium Economy cabins on more than eighty aircraft that are deployed on domestic and international routes. The airline has started refurbishing 27 of its legacy A320 aircraft that will be completed by mid-2025. This will see the installation of new cabins, seats, upholstery, carpets as well as the addition of Premium Economy cabins in these aircraft, thus significantly increasing the total count of aircraft in three-class configuration. Emirates marked a significant milestone as its first Airbus A350 entered commercial service, operating its inaugural flight from Dubai to Edinburgh. Emirates newest aircraft combines next-generation cabin design and exceptional passenger comfort paired with outstanding onboard service. The aircraft, featuring Emirates’ latest cabin products is the first of 65 A350s joining the airline’s fleet over the coming years. Connecting Scotland to the world The Emirates A350’s arrival in Edinburgh follows the airline’s resumption of services to Scotland’s capital in November 2024. The airline operates 14 weekly flights to Scotland, including an A380 service to Glasgow – offering customers enhanced connectivity to more than 140 destinations across its extensive global network. Emirates’ A350 flight EK23 departs Dubai at 14:50hrs local time, and arrives in Edinburgh at 19:05hrs, local time. The return flight EK24 departs Edinburgh at 20:40hrs and arrives in Dubai at 08:05hrs, local time the following day. Business Class customers onboard the inaugural A350 flight from Edinburgh to Dubai enjoyed the special delicacies of Scotland with the airline’s specially curated menu featuring dishes like rich broccoli and Lanark Blue cheese soup made with Lanark Blue cheese produced in Ogcastle, Lanarkshire; a Scottish smoked salmon dome, paired with caviar, dill, cranberries, and a citrus dressing; tender seared Angus beef fillet from Aberdeen; Balmoral chicken served with traditional tatties and neeps; and a delicious cranachan cheesecake topped with raspberry coulis. Economy Class passengers also enjoyed a refreshing potato champ salad with Scottish smoked salmon, cheddar cheese with Nairn’s oat biscuits and Walker’s shortbread biscuits.

Emirates to fly to Kuwait and Bahrain with the Airbus A350-900
With a second Airbus A350 on its way to Emirates, has decided to expand the sphere of the types of operation, with two Middle-Eastern routes to use the equipment. Emirates is bringing forward the deployment of its Airbus A350 to Kuwait and Bahrain. Services will start 8th of January, making them the second and third destinations to be served by the airline’s newest aircraft. Emirates will operate its Airbus A350 on the following services to Kuwait and Bahrain: Kuwait: The Emirates A350 will operate on EK853 and EK854. EK 853 departs Dubai at 01:25, arriving in Kuwait at 02:15. The return flight, EK 854 leaves Kuwait at 03:40hrs, arriving in Dubai at 06:25hrs. Bahrain: The Emirates A350 will operate on two of the three daily flights to the Kingdom – EK837/838, and EK839/840. EK 837 departs Dubai at 08:20, arriving in Bahrain at 08:40. The return flight, EK 838, departs Bahrain at 10:00, arriving back in Dubai at 12:15h. The second flight operated by the Airbus A350, EK 839, takes off at 16:00, arriving in Bahrain at 16:20. EK 840 leaves Bahrain at 17:45, arriving back to Dubai at 20:00. Emirates Airbus A350-900s operate in a three-class configuration, 32 Business Class lie-flat seats in a 1-2-1 layout, 21 Premium Economy seats in a 2-3-2 configuration, and 259 Economy Class seats in a 3-3-3 arrangement, for a total of 312 seats. With a second Airbus A350 on its way to Emirates, the airline has decided to expand the sphere of the types of operation, with two Middle-Eastern routes to use the equipment.
