Etihad Airways is setting a new standard for single-aisle flying with the debut of its all-new Airbus A321LR, delivering wide-body comfort on short and medium-haul routes. Etihad’s A321LR represents a leap forward in guest experience and innovation, bringing Etihad’s signature luxury and a true First class experience to narrowbody flying. “The A321LR is an amazing aircraft which proves our commitment to luxury, customer experience, and connectivity,” said Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways. “With our new First Suites, 14 lie-flat Business seats with direct-aisle access, and upgraded Economy, we've taken the luxury experience which we are famed for on our widebody fleet and adapted it to offer guests the same experience in a single-aisle aircraft – all while keeping them seamlessly connected with superfast, streaming Wi-Fi throughout the journey. “More broadly, the A321LR marks a transformational moment for Etihad as we accelerate toward our Journey 2030 vision: doubling our fleet size, tripling our passenger numbers, and opening 16 new destinations in 2025 alone.” An Extraordinary Experience in Every Cabin Etihad’s A321LR introduces an all-new First Suite - a private, enclosed space with a sliding door, lie-flat bed, elevated dining, and bespoke design touches. With only two exclusive First suites on board, guests will enjoy an intimate, ultra-premium experience normally reserved for long-haul widebodies. The innovative and spacious First Suite offers additional space for a companion to sit as well as a large 20” 4K screen for entertainment, with Bluetooth pairing and wireless charging – ensuring comfort and connection at every touchpoint. The new Business cabin features widebody-style seats, all forward facing with direct aisle access (1-1) in a herringbone layout with 14 fully-flat 78” beds. Each seat includes a 17.3” 4K screen, Bluetooth headphone pairing, wireless charging, and ample personal storage, ensuring a seamless, connected journey. In Economy, 144 thoughtfully designed seats offer up to 5” recline, enhanced ergonomics, and generous space. At 18.4” wide, it’s one of the widest Economy seats in the industry, providing wide-body comfort to the narrow-body aircraft. Every guest enjoys a 13.3” 4K touchscreen, USB charging, and access to Etihad’s next-generation entertainment system. Etihad’s aircraft are equipped with Viasat’s advanced, multi-orbit ready system, which is capable of speeds of up to 1 Gbps, and available from gate-to-gate where permitted. All guests have access to streaming, social media, surfing and gaming onboard, in addition to live television throughout the cabin. Luxury Beyond the Cabin: The First Experience Redefined Etihad’s First Suite is only the beginning of a truly end-to-end premium journey. The airline is expanding its First class offering across more routes – including the A321LR network - and significantly investing in every detail of the travel experience with new services to be rolled out from August with the introduction of the A321LR. “As well as investing heavily to expand our First class offering, we’re taking the time to enhance every tiny detail of the experience and introducing a host of new premium services over the next couple of months – stay tuned,” said Neves. From the moment guests choose to book First, they will be supported by personalised service from the new Etihad Concierge, which will be available 24/7 for tailored travel planning. In the UAE and all First destinations, guests will enjoy a private chauffeur service to and from the airport, providing a seamless experience from door-to-door. First class guests will also be personally escorted through a dedicated Check In to the Etihad First Lounge and then for boarding. On arrival, guests will be accompanied from the aircraft door to their chauffeur, with porter services taking care of the luggage. In Abu Dhabi, First guests will also soon benefit from complimentary Home Check-In and Land & Leave services, offering a baggage-free airport experience. At Zayed International Airport, First guests will be chauffeured to the aircraft door in a private limousine if the flight does not board directly from the terminal. “First isn’t just a seat - it’s an experience that starts the moment you choose to fly with us,” added Neves. “We’re bringing First to more destinations and elevating it at every touchpoint, combining the elegance of champagne and caviar with the convenience of modern luxury." Expanding Horizons Etihad’s first A321LR enters service on 1 August 2025, with ten aircraft joining the fleet this year. Vietjet expands fleet with an Airbus A321neo ACF aircraft
Vietjet recently welcomed a brand-new Airbus A321neo ACF aircraft with registration number VN-A516. The new aircraft landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday, 25th April, following its delivery flight from Hamburg, Germany. Taiwan’s EVA Air has placed a firm order for six long-range A350-1000s and three single-aisle A321neo aircraft, finalising a commitment announced by the airline in March 2025. The new orders will bring EVA Air’s backlog of aircraft to be delivered to 24 A350-1000s and 18 A321neo aircraft. “The new additions to our fleet reaffirm our commitment to sustainable aviation and delivering an exceptional travel experience. Both the A350-1000 and A321neo set a high standard in their respective categories, offering remarkable efficiency and comfort to our passengers. As we move forward with our fleet and network expansion plans, we look forward to leveraging the aircraft’s extended range and efficiency to strengthen our market position,” said Clay Sun, President of EVA Air. “EVA Air’s new orders underscore the enduring appeal of the A350-1000 Long Range Leader as the benchmark for intercontinental operations, and the A321neo as a leader in regional efficiency. It offers the longest range capability of any commercial airliner in production today. Powered by the latest generation of Rolls-Royce engines, the aircraft is capable of flying up to 9,700 nautical miles / 18,000 kilometres non-stop, using 25% less fuel than previous generation types and with a similar reduction in carbon emissions. As with all Airbus aircraft, the A350 is already able to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Airbus is targeting to have its aircraft up to 100% SAF capable by 2030. The A350 Family has received more than 1,360 orders from 60 customers worldwide, with more than 640 aircraft currently in the fleets of 38 operators, flying primarily on long-haul routes. The A321neo is part of the A320neo Family, incorporating the latest technologies including new generation engines, Sharklets and cabin efficiency enablers, which together deliver 20% fuel savings. Cebu Pacific secures sustainability-linked loan to purchase A321NEO aircraft
Philippine low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific formally closed a sustainability-linked Japanese Operating Lease with Call Option (JOLCO) for its new Airbus A321NEO, marking its first-ever sustainable aircraft financing. The LCC is the first airline in Southeast Asia to get approval for a sustainability-linked loan (SLL). According to Cebu Pacific chief financial officer Mark Cezar: "Cebu Pacific’s first sustainability-linked aircraft financing is a milestone in our decarbonisation journey, as the transaction supports the core element of our programme - the modernisation of our fleet towards more advanced and fuel-efficient aircraft. With this deal, we want to emphasize that access to financing for sustainability initiatives is available and that Cebu Pacific is taking full advantage of such opportunities in our pursuit of being the decarbonisation leader in the region." A great partner Crédit Agricole CIB acted as the sole sustainability adviser, JOLCO arranger, and mandated lead arranger for the loan. The bank’s leading expertise on both aviation and sustainable finance placed it in a favourable position to become Cebu Pacific’s partner of choice for its first-ever SLL. Bertrand Rovetto, head of Crédit Agricole CIB’s aviation group in the Asia Pacific, remarked: “We are delighted to have been selected by Cebu Pacific to structure their first sustainability-linked aircraft financing. Crédit Agricole CIB is a pioneer in sustainable finance and as we are committed to supporting our clients in their decarbonisation efforts, we have built-in a financial incentive mechanism rewarding the airline’s progress towards their net zero ambition. We hope this is the first of many more sustainability-linked centered collaborations with Cebu Pacific.” Most notably, Crédit Agricole CIB was hailed Most Sustainable Aviation Bank twice in a row in 2023 and 2024, and APAC Bank of the Year of 2024 by Airline Economics. How does it work? Under the SLL structure designed by Crédit Agricole CIB, Cebu Pacific has set targets aiming at reducing the carbon emission intensity of its aircraft fleet notably through its modernisation towards more advanced and fuel-efficient aircraft, which, if met, will provide financial incentives to the airline. Delivered to the airline last 24th December, the brand new Airbus A321NEO, with improved fuel-efficiency compared to previous generations, will contribute to Cebu Pacific’s carbon emission intensity reduction objectives as the airline progresses towards transitioning to an all-NEO fleet by 2028.
Cebu Pacific ends 2024 with a new Airbus A321neo
Cebu Pacific ended 2024 on a high as it received a new Airbus A321neo, its 17th delivery for 2024. This latest acquisition arrived on 24th December and boosts Cebu Pacific’s position as one of the leading players in Philippine aviation. The arrival of the 236-seater aircraft brought CEB’s commercial fleet to 91, and served as a perfect cap for a year that saw enhanced operational capacity and an expanded route network. Cebu Pacific president and chief commercial officer Xander Lao remarked: “The arrival of this new aircraft reinforces our readiness to meet the rising travel demand and our commitment to enhancing connectivity for our passengers in 2025 and beyond.” At present, Cebu Pacific operates one of the youngest fleets globally, comprising 10 Airbus A330s, 40 Airbus A320s, 26 Airbus A321s and 15 ATR turboprop aircraft. This diverse fleet enables the airline to maintain the widest network coverage in the Philippines. A more sustainable option The Airbus NEO (New Engine Option) series is known for its environmental efficiency, burning 15 percent less fuel and generating lower noise levels compared to previous models. This translates into a significant reduction in carbon emissions that is in alignment with the airline’s sustainability goals. Last 2nd October, Cebu Pacific announced a historic agreement with Airbus and Pratt & Whitney, an RTX business, for up to 152 A321neo aircraft powered by Pratt & Whitney GTF engines. Valued at approximately US$24 billion at list prices, the deal was hailed as the largest aircraft acquisition in Philippine aviation history.
