Taipei boosts its exposure in Europe through a roadshow of events
Taipei recently strengthened its promotional efforts in Europe through a roadshow of events under the theme Travel Taipei – A City of Layers. The roadshow which ran from 20th to 25th September enabled the Taiwanese capital to present itself as a city where modern lifestyle, cultural depth, natural landscapes, and culinary excellence converge. This dynamic campaign featured a series of events in Germany and the Czech Republic to showcase the city's diverse appeal. Europe has become a key market, with research showing European travelers are among Asia's highest spenders and favor flexible, independent travel. Taipei's efficient transport, wide-ranging attractions, and blend of city life, nature, and gastronomy make it an ideal match. Sensory immersion In Frankfurt, a pop-up event at Skyline Plaza invited visitors to explore three unique experiences: "Scent of Taipei" with a live Oolong tea ceremony and cultural storytelling; "Urban Nature" highlighting the Taipei Grand Trail; and "Handmade Memories" workshops inspired by Dadaocheng, Taipei 101, and Beitou hot springs. In Berlin, a large billboard at the central railway station featured iconic attractions such as the National Palace Museum, Yangmingshan National Park, Ximending, temples, and bustling night markets. The campaign concluded in Prague with a travel trade networking event co-hosted with China Airlines. A major highlight in Prague was the launch of China Airlines' new non-stop Prague–Taipei service, operating twice weekly. This direct connection benefits not only Czech travelers but also those from southern Germany, including Nuremberg and Dresden. Travel operators likewise emphasised that direct flights are a decisive factor in featuring Taipei in European itineraries. Inroads to a vibrant Eastern destination Through immersive public events, media partnerships, and close cooperation with the travel industry, Taipei is steadily increasing its visibility across Europe. More than a short city break, Taipei positions itself as a destination of layers: where tradition meets modernity, where lush nature sits alongside vibrant nightlife, and where culinary adventures enrich every journey. With expanded connectivity and growing awareness, Taipei is emerging as one of Asia's most compelling new destinations for European travelers.
Taiwan showcases its soft power with Trendy Taipei
The Taipei City Government is all set to hold TRENDY TAIPEI 2025 from 25th August, centred on the theme Trendy Taipei: It’s Now. The event highlights the energy and immediacy of the Taiwanese music scene and is structured around three major aspects: The Concert Economy, Industry Trends, and Urban Actions. As such, activities span six thematic areas, specifically music, art, audiovisual, technology, gaming, and fashion. Running until 7th September, the festival features over 150 music performances, 39 professional forums and citywide activities, making it the most chill and trendiest event of the summer. 14 signature events throughout the capital Taipei mayor Chiang Wan-an mentioned that Taipei is the core of Taiwan's pop music and creative industries with mature production infrastructure and venue resources. In 2024, the representing venues of the city hosted more than 530 concerts with nearly 2 million attendees. That said, this year’s Trendy Taipei is an international metropolitan music festival unique to Taipei, aiming to showcase the city's creative energy and charm to the world. The festival’s goal is simple: to bring music out of the concert halls and into the streets, allowing people to feel the rhythm everywhere from alleyways and cultural venues to shopping districts and even MRT stations. The programming centres on three areas: The Concert Economy – activating consumption through music and connecting performance venues across Taipei. Industry Trends – featuring expert forums discussing the trend and the future of the music industry. Urban Actions – engaging cultural landmarks throughout the city. What’s different about this year’s festival Unlike its debut run in 2024, this year’s festival focuses more deeply on the Concert Economy driven by music to boost tourism and consumption with big concerts, trying to make music the momentum of industry developing. The newly introduced TRENDY TAIPEI Boom: Taipei Arena Series will feature top artists from Taiwan, Japan, and Korea from 5th to 7th September with tickets already selling fast online via Kham ticketing. Additionally, Taipei Very Live will take place from 8th August to 7th September, connecting 22 Live Houses and music restaurants with 50+ diverse performances including rock, jazz, pop. Held simultaneously, this year's TAIPEI MUSIC EXPO (TMEX) and JAM JAM ASIA present 70 performances from 28th to 31st August, with tickets now on sale.
Taiwan brings its All in Taipei, Made for You campaign to Singapore and Malaysia
To strengthen Taipei's visibility and competitiveness in the Singapore and Malaysia travel markets, the Taipei City Government’s Department of Information and Tourism in collaboration with the governments of New Taipei, Keelung, and Taoyuan, partnered with tourism industry representatives from northern Taiwan to present a major tourism promotion event in Singapore. The event attracted over 70 travel professionals and media representatives from both countries, highlighting Taipei's growing appeal in the Southeast Asian market. Under the theme All in Taipei, Made for You, Taipei highlighted its strengths as a travel destination: convenient transportation, a safe and friendly environment, and a vibrant blend of nature, culture, and modern urban life. Key annual events were showcased, including the Dadaocheng Summer Festival, Taipei New Year's Eve Countdown Party, and the Taipei Lantern Festival, all of which sparked great interest among attendees. A slew of agreements Taipei also signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS) and the Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association (MCTA) to promote bilateral cooperation in marketing resource sharing, tourism information exchange, and future joint promotions. According to tourism commissioner Yu Hsiang: "Taipei is a multi-layered city where history and modernity converge. Travelers can stroll through nostalgic neighborhoods like Dadaocheng and Wanhua, explore centuries of culture at the National Palace Museum, enjoy the scenic beauty of Yangmingshan and Maokong, or immerse themselves in the energy of Xinyi District and Taipei 101. The city is also a food lover's paradise: from Michelin-recommended xiaolongbao and beef noodles to local night market favorites like bubble tea, oyster omelets, and mango shaved ice." Taipei is also committed to inclusive tourism, seeing how the city recently received the 2025 Muslim Women-Friendly Travel Destination City Award, was ranked second in the world for safest night tourism by Travelbag, and first as the safest city for female digital nomads by Time Out, reaffirming its reputation as a secure, welcoming international destination. Looking ahead, Taipei will continue its diversified marketing strategies in the region, including the rollout of in-depth travel packages featuring two-night stays with local Singapore travel agencies during upcoming travel fairs. The All in Taipei, Made for You brand will be prominently displayed, complemented by outdoor advertising, local food media features, and radio promotions on YES 972 FM, all aimed at increasing visibility and inspiring more travelers from Singapore and Malaysia to choose Taipei as their next destination.

Capella Taipei offers guests elegance and architectural splendour this April
Capella Hotels and Resorts expands its footprint to Taiwan with the opening of Capella Taipei on 1st April. An architectural marvel, Capella Taipei is characterised by its understated yet elegant contemporary design, born from the creativity of interior architect André Fu. Fu’s imagination has led to a hotel that embodies sophistication suffused with serene poetry, mirroring Taipei’s multifaceted spirit. The architect's interpretation of Taipei's essence manifests in the interplay of urban dynamism and moments of contemplative stillness, a duality woven seamlessly throughout the hotel. An incredible edifice in an inspiring location Located along the verdant corridor of Dunhua North Road, where century-old trees line boulevards reminiscent of European promenades, Capella Taipei’s aesthetic revolves around the concept of a modern mansion. Thus, its appearance calls to mind an intricate dialogue between bespoke luxury and cultural legacy. He said of this: "It is a re-telling of my personal journey discovering Taipei. Flaneuring around local neighbourhoods and wandering into the lush tree-lined Dunhua North Road where the hotel resides, I was absorbed by the poetic environment: an antithesis to the urbanity one might typically perceive of Taipei. My vision translates relaxed luxury into a quietly-curated private mansion, incorporating contemporary touches and cultural nuances." On traversing the cobblestone driveway, the city's clamour gently recedes, opening up to a tranquil courtyard with sculpted greenery and magnificent bronze doors that serve as a grand entrance. An entryway to elegance The arrival experience continues to unfold through a series of intimate salons, allowing each guest to discover a layered visual journey. Inside, a tiered console table presents an artfully curated collection of objets d’art crafted by gifted local artisans. Above it hangs a commissioned tapestry by Taiwanese artist Lee Chen-Lin, whose intricate weaving captures the ethereal beauty of Taiwan's misty peaks and verdant valleys. Through a rhythmic progression of spaces, Fu establishes an intuitive journey throughout the hotel. Once guests enter the archway from the Entrance Arrival, they are greeted by Plume, an intimate and welcoming sanctuary that invites them to enjoy convivial moments from dawn to dusk. Where dynamism and serenity meet Inspired by his profound connection to Taipei, Fu describes the city as a vibrant urban tapestry intertwined with moments of poetic stillness. He explains: “The spirit of my design philosophy is about provoking new ways of thinking about what luxury means. The overall sensibility reflects the aesthetics I imagined for this contemporary mansion, a feeling of authenticity in the details. My vision is to capture this sensibility with a residential approach.” Exquisite silk panels, each meticulously hand-painted and adorned with silver gilt, emerge from a collaboration between British artisan De Gournay and Andre Fu Living, juxtaposing Art Deco geometries with Zen garden serenity. This artistic sensibility extends to distinctive marquetry patterns adorning entrance doors, tableware, and carpets. A handful of accommodations also feature private balconies or spacious al fresco terraces with an outdoor dipping pool.

Indonesia puts its best foot forward at Taipei International Travel Fair
Indonesia showed off five of its high-priority destinations at this year’s Taipei International Travel Fair (TITF) in Taiwan. The country’s Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy promoted the country's five super-priority destinations (DSP), as well as the Banyuwangi-North Bali-West Bali (3B) corridor. The ministry leveraged this opportunity by hosting an Indonesian pavilion, which occupied 36 square metres in Hall 1 of the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center during the fair, held from 1 to 4 November. In collaboration with the Indonesian Economic and Trade Office (KDEI), the ministry also supported six Indonesian tourism industry players from various sectors to join TITF 2024. A great opportunity for promotions According to deputy marketing officer Ni Made Ayu Marthini, Taiwan's largest international tourism exhibition provided a valuable opportunity for Indonesia to expand its tourism promotion to the Taiwanese market. Marthini said: "The promotion of tourism has been enhanced through product knowledge and updates on the five super-priority destinations and 3B.” She pointed out that visitors to the pavilion participated in mini-surveys and questionnaires, and they also received promotional materials. Additionally, sales calls were made to travel agents, tour operators, airlines, and tourism application companies in Taipei. Marthini further revealed that tourist arrivals from Taiwan to Indonesia in the first eight months of 2024 reached 127,610. Based on this figure, Indonesia's active participation in the TITF was a strategic step toward achieving the target of 14.3 million foreign tourists this year. She said: "Through this event, we aim to sustainably increase the number of foreign visitors, especially from Taiwan, to Indonesia.”
