Oman Air to launch flights between Muscat and Amsterdam from 1st July

Starting 1 July the airline will fly direct between Muscat and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol four times per week. The new route was announced at a signing ceremony attended by Con Korfiatis, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Oman Air, and Pieter van Oord, CEO of Royal Schiphol Group, during His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s state visit to the Netherlands. As informed by a news report in TradeArabia News Service. “We’re proud to enter Amsterdam, marking our first direct connection to this vibrant city. As we continue to grow, we focus on destinations that not only align with our strategic goals but also offer long-term opportunities for tourism and business exchange. Europe is our second largest market in terms of revenue and Amsterdam represents a key hub in the region for business and leisure travel. Moreover, the growing economic ties with Oman make it an ideal addition to our expanding European network,” said Korfiatis. Van Oord added: “We are delighted to welcome Oman Air to Amsterdam and have a direct connection between Amsterdam and Muscat. This direct link marks a significant milestone in strengthening ties between our two countries and enhancing connectivity for travellers in both directions. I am convinced that both countries will benefit from this connection.” Amsterdam will mark the first new route after Oman Air joins the oneworld Alliance, the benefits of which will include access to the oneworld Lounge at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol for Business Class, oneworld Emerald & Sapphire and Sindbad Gold & Silver customers. The Muscat-Amsterdam service, which will initially run during the summer season, will be operated by the latest generation B787-9 aircraft.

Oman Air announces resumption of double-daily flights to London

  Oman Air will resume double-daily flights between Muscat and London starting October 26, in response to growing demand and the strong and sustained operational performance of this vital route. As informed by a news report in the Times of Oman. The additional flight will be operated four days a week—Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays—providing Oman Air passengers with more flexibility and options to suit their travel plans. It will also enhance seamless connectivity with many destinations served by our Oneworld partners, particularly in North America. By summer 2026, the airline will operate approximately 14 return flights per week from Muscat. Con Korfiatis, CEO of Oman Air, said, "The introduction of the double-daily flights to London reflects the airline's commitment to meeting strong passenger demand, especially as London is a strategic hub in our international network and the United Kingdom is one of the airline's most important inbound tourism markets." He said that strengthening Oman Air's presence on this vital route not only contributes to supporting its operations, but also aligns with the Sultanate of Oman's efforts to stimulate the tourism sector and continue its commitment to achieving sustainable growth, especially as it prepares to join the Oneworld alliance. CEO of Oman Air emphasized the company's keenness to explore market potential and provide an exceptional and distinguished travel experience for its guests. The new schedule will include two daily flights on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, providing passengers with more seamless and convenient connections to their destinations in the United States and other long-haul destinations. These flights will be operated using the fleet's latest Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, featuring spacious cabins featuring three award-winning cabins: Business Studio, Business Class, and Economy Class.

Oman Air ranks 2nd in MENA for On Time Performance (OTP) in 2024

Oman Air has been recognised as the second most punctual airline in the Middle East and Africa Region for 2024 and the top in the Middle East. Achieving an impressive 90.27% on-time performance, the airline not only secured one of the top regional rankings but also surpassed the global winner’s score of 86.70%. It’s the third consecutive year Oman Air has earned one of the top spots in the region, having scored first in 2022 and 2023. Published in an annual report by Cirium, a leading provider of aviation analytics, the ranking upholds Oman Air’s position as one of the world’s most reliable airlines. The award was presented to Captain Nasser Al Salmi, Oman Air’s Chief Operating Officer, by Mahesh Jugoo, Cirium’s Head of Middle East & Africa, in a ceremony this week. According to Cirium, an on-time flight is defined as one that arrives within 14 minutes and 59 seconds of its scheduled gate arrival time. Captain Nasser Al Salmi said: “Being on time is one of the most important things we can do for our guests, and doing so requires immense coordination and dedication from our entire team. Every effort we make behind the scenes is aimed at ensuring our guests reach their destinations as planned, reinforcing their trust in our airline. Oman Air records highest ever seat load factor at 88%

Oman Air has recorded its highest ever seat occupancy, achieving a record 88 per cent total load factor in January 2025. Of the 41 destinations Oman Air flew to last month, several achieved load factors as high as 95 per cent. As informed by a news report in Syndigate.info The airline has surged ahead of the global average, which was 83.5 per cent for 2024, according to the latest numbers from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). An impressive 77 per cent occupancy was also achieved for its Business Class seats. Oman Air cuts fleet size by 29% to reduce losses

Oman Air, the Gulf state’s flag carrier, last year cut its fleet size by 29 percent year on year to 32 aircraft, lowering its operational cost as part of its turnaround strategy. As informed by a news report in AGBI. The airline carried 5.4 million passengers, down 13 percent year on year. Annual Ebitda rose by 40 percent to OR24 million ($62.2 million), while earnings before interest and taxes improved by 40 percent year on year to OR76 million. The financial results performance were supported by increased service to profitable destinations and a higher load factor. The airline also settled long overdue payables of OR45 million without resorting to borrowing. The average fare remained stable year on year at OR65, but the load factor rose 1 percent year on year to 75 percent. The restructuring of the operations and workforce by 24 percent led to savings of OR18 million. The replacing of expat workers with Omani nationals was prioritised, resulting in the Omanisation rate hitting 81 percent. In August 2023, Oman Air announced restructuring plans to reduce ongoing losses and debt accumulation. The airline cancelled flights to some South Asian cities in January 2024 to improve its financial performance and strengthen its position in a competitive market.

Oman Air appoints InterGlobe Air Transport as GSA in India

InterGlobe Air Transport (IGAT) becomes the exclusive General Sales Agent (GSA) for Oman Air in India, aiming to strengthen the airline's presence and enhance customer service. Travel solutions provider InterGlobe Air Transport (IGAT) on Monday said Middle-East carrier Oman Air has appointed the company as its exclusive General Sales Agent (GSA). "By offering seamless connectivity, we aim to elevate the travel journey for our customers and contribute significantly to Oman Air's growth and success in the Indian market," said Siddhanta Sharma, President and CEO at IGAT. The company also said it will provide comprehensive sales and service support, including passenger airline management, sales and marketing, reservations and ticketing, and contact centre operations to bolster Oman Air's Indian operations. "India is a key market for Oman Air, and we are excited to strengthen our presence and enhance our offerings for Indian travellers through this strategic partnership with InterGlobe Air Transport. By leveraging their extensive network and expertise, we will significantly strengthen our presence in India," said Sunil V A, Regional Vice President for ISC (commercial sales) at Oman Air. A GSA acts as a third-party sales representative for an airline in a specific region or country and its mandate includes selling flight tickets, cargo space, and other airline products, among others. The partnership will leverage the company's extensive network and expertise to strengthen the Gulf airline's presence and enhance customer service across the Indian market, IGAT said in a statement. Oman Air operates over 90 weekly flights to 10 cities in India from its Muscat hub. IGAT provides diverse expertise across passenger and cargo sales. Incorporated in 1989, IGAT represents some of the world's largest airlines in India, a car rental company, and a leading hotel booking site.
