The event witnessed participation from various stakeholders, with Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh presiding as Chief Guest. Senior officials, policy experts, farm stay operators, and innovators from across the country joined the conclave to chart the roadmap for a vibrant village-led tourism economy. Rural tourism is our chance to reconnect the next generation to our cultural roots,” he said. Principal Secretary, Horticulture, B L Meena showcased high-impact projects such as silk farming supported by Israeli tech, and success stories of integrated farming that are being merged with tourism to generate dual income for villagers. Tourism Australia launches new Come and say G’day campaign targeting Indian travellers
Sara Tendulkar near Sydney Opera House Tourism Australia is embarking on the next stage of its globally successful Come and say G’day campaign with the second chapter of the highly effective platform launching in India today, 20 August 2025. Animated Brand Ambassador Ruby the Souvenir Kangaroo is back and joining her this time is local entrepreneur and philanthropist Sara Tendulkar in Tourism Australia’s locally nuanced campaign created for Indian audiences. Nishant Kashikar, Country Manager – India & Gulf, Tourism Australia, said while traditionally Tourism Australia campaigns have featured one famous face across their global marketing initiatives, the new campaign brings to life the lasting memories of an Australian holiday from the perspectives of visitors from India, including Sara Tendulkar. “Our new campaign extends a bespoke invitation to Indian travellers to visit Australia and experience a holiday that lasts a lifetime. The campaign creative has been tailored for cultural nuances and showcases the sort of tourism experiences Indian travellers are looking for. We couldn’t be more excited to work with Sara Tendulkar on our new campaign – her connection with Australia made her the perfect fit. We’re equally excited to officially welcome her into our Friend of Australia advocacy program,” said Nishant Kashikar. Sara Tendulkar said: “There is something about Australia that keeps calling me back. I have always felt so welcomed. I am touched and excited to be able to share a slice of the unforgettable memories I have made Down Under in Tourism Australia's Come and say G'day campaign. From the bustling cities to the relaxing beaches and curious wildlife, I know that travellers in India will be captivated by the diversity and warmth Australia has to offer. Whether it’s going surfing, snorkelling, eating amazing food, or the coffee culture, the memories I have made on a holiday in Australia are the souvenirs I take back home with me.” The next chapter of Come and say G’day builds on Tourism Australia’s global campaign, which has been in market since October 2022. “Since our last major campaign in market, we have seen India climb to become Australia's fifth-largest inbound tourism market for arrivals, with Australia welcoming over 450,000 Indian visitors in the 12 months to June 20251, up 8 per cent year on year. Indian visitor expenditure for the 12 months to March 2025 was AUD $2.7 billion2- a jump of 14 per cent compared to 2024 said Nishant Kashikar. Tourism Australia Chief Marketing Officer, Susan Coghill, said: "Ruby the Souvenir Kangaroo has become our global campaign star, but we needed something more to really connect with travelers in India. That’s where brilliant local talent like Sara Tendulkar plays a crucial role. She connects with Australia in a way that resonates authentically with Indian travelers because she's experienced it herself and has wonderful memories to share.” "This approach is new for us – instead of one global talent, we're working with people who genuinely love Australia and can share that passion in ways that feel real to audiences. Sara's connection to Australia isn't manufactured for a campaign, it's genuine, and that makes all the difference when you're trying to inspire people to take that leap and book a trip,” said Coghill. The multi-channel campaign, developed with agency Droga5 ANZ, will be rolled out in India via connected television, high-impact out-of-home, social and digital advertising platforms. The Australian tourism industry has been growing since the return of global travel in 2022, and according to Tourism Research Australia, the number of international arrivals is expected to reach a record 10 million in 2026 and grow to 11.8 million in 2029.
Air India and Indian Oil sign MoU for supply of SAF
Air India and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the supply of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), marking a major step towards a greener future for Indian aviation. Under the MoU, Air India, a Tata Group company, and IOCL have outlined their shared commitment to promote the adoption of low-carbon fuels in aviation, support global decarbonization goals, and contribute to the transition towards more sustainable air transport operations. As part of its broader strategy to achieve the IATA Net Zero by 2050 target and comply with CORSIA obligations, Air India is actively pursuing initiatives in operational efficiency, low-carbon emissions, and now, SAF. This MoU marks a significant step in expanding its green aviation portfolio. The MoU was signed by Shailesh Dhar, Executive Director (Aviation), IndianOil and P Balaji, Group Head – GRC and Corporate Affairs, Air India, in the presence of AS Sahney, Chairman, IndianOil and Campbell Wilson, CEO & Managing Director, Air India, and other officials. AS Sahney, Chairman, IndianOil said: “The signing of this MoU with Air India represents a strategic step in India’s transition to sustainable aviation. With our ISCC-CORSIA-certified SAF from Panipat, IndianOil is ready to provide a sustainable fuel solution that will help decarbonize air travel. Partnering with India’s flagship carrier, we are aligning national growth with global climate goals and setting a benchmark for the industry.” Campbell Wilson, CEO & Managing Director, Air India said: “Through this MoU with IndianOil, Air India is committed to support the Government of India’s initiatives to promote sustainable development in the aviation sector and to further its own sustainability goals to achieve the IATA Net Zero by 2050 target.” Air India’s fleet renewal plan, with 570 new aircraft on order, will enable the airline to operate one of the lowest carbon emitting fleets in the world and its plans to establish more non-stop city-pairs will result in less emissive flights and itineraries. Air India has also adopted market-leading flight planning and optimisation systems, including upgrading its route planning software and coordination with air traffic management, and has entered into an MOU with India’s Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and the Indian Institute of Petroleum to collaborate on the research, development and deployment of SAF. Over the last few years, Air India has adopted several green practices, including reducing single-use plastics and using lighter material for cutlery and dishes, and is optimising processes such as more frequent engine and airframe washes, implementing single-engine taxiing and autonomous-EV towing to save jet fuel. These efforts align with India’s broader push for green aviation, which includes India’s target of 5% SAF blending by 2030 and the development of SAF supply chains across the country. This collaboration builds upon IndianOil’s recent milestone of becoming the first Indian company to receive ISCC CORSIA certification for SAF production at its Panipat Refinery. The certification, granted under ICAO’s Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA), establishes IndianOil’s capability to produce SAF that meets the most stringent international sustainability and lifecycle carbon emission standards. By integrating certified green fuels into commercial operations, IndianOil and Air India are together reinforcing India’s position as a front-runner in sustainable aviation and energy transition. Through this MoU, IOCL and Air India aim to collaborate on the supply of SAF to meet CORSIA targets for international flights, ensuring a reliable, transparent, and sustainable fuel supply to support both companies’ environmental goals.
India, China agree to resume direct flights
India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi meets with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in New Delhi, India August 19, 2025. India's Press Information Bureau/Handout via REUTERS. India and China agreed on to resume direct flights and step up trade and investment flows as the neighbours rebuild ties damaged by a 2020 border clash. The Asian giants are cautiously strengthening ties against the backdrop of U.S. President Donald Trump's unpredictable foreign policy, staging a series of high-level bilateral visits. The two countries would resume direct flights and boost trade and investment, including reopening border trade at three designated points, and facilitate in visas, the Indian foreign ministry said. Direct flights have been suspended since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. No date was given for their resumption. The latest statements came at the end of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi's two-day visit to New Delhi for the 24th round of talks with Indian National Security (NSA) Advisor Ajit Doval to resolve their decades old border dispute. The border talks covered issues related to pulling back troops both countries have amassed on their Himalayan border, delimitation of borders and boundary affairs, the Indian ministry said. Both countries have agreed to set up a working group to consult and coordinate on border affairs to advance demarcation negotiations, a Chinese foreign ministry statement released on Wednesday showed. It said the mechanism will extend talks to cover the eastern and middle sections of the border. Meanwhile another round of talks on the western section will be held as soon as possible, the ministry said. Beijing also said both countries agreed to meet again in China in 2026. "Stable, predictable, constructive ties between India and China will contribute significantly to regional as well as global peace and prosperity," Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on X after meeting Wang. Modi is scheduled to travel to China at the end of this month to take part in the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation - his first visit to the country in more than seven years. MakeMyTrip Launches Industry-First Initiative to Boost Wildlife Tourism in India
Representative Image MakeMyTrip has introduced an industry-first initiative designed to simplify the discovery and booking of hotels and homestays in and around India’s national parks. Covering more than 100 national parks across the country, the initiative addresses a common challenge: travelers exploring these vast and multi-zoned parks often struggle to identify the right accommodation — whether it is located near a specific entry gate for easier safari access or situated inside or outside the park boundaries. Proximity to the entry gate has always been one of the most sought-after pieces of information for visitors, yet one of the hardest to find. To address this gap, MakeMyTrip has leveraged AI to map over 2,000 hotels and homestays with their nearest national park zones. Travelers can now simply search for a national park or a specific zone gate on the platform and instantly discover accommodation options mapped to specific entry gates and park boundaries, making their choice faster and more reliable. Users on the platform will also have access to key park information through the ‘Tips’ section, which provides details on National Park’s operational hours, peak visitation periods, entry protocols, transport routes, and the official website of the state tourism board to support informed decision-making. “India is home to more than 100 national parks and over 1,000 protected areas, offering immense potential for wildlife tourism. On our platform, searches for national parks have doubled over the past two years, a clear sign of the growing interest among travellers. By making it easier to discover and book stays around these destinations, we hope to encourage more people to explore India’s natural heritage and contribute to the growth of this segment,” said Ankit Khanna, Chief Product Officer – Hotel, Growth & Emerging Businesses, MakeMyTrip. This launch underlines MakeMyTrip’s commitment to transforming fragmented and often difficult-to-search travel experiences into seamless journeys. Over time, the company has introduced a series of product innovations aimed at making travel search more intuitive, personalized, and accessible for every traveller.

As Abu Dhabi Airports advances its long-term growth strategy, it remains focused on expanding global partnerships, advancing major infrastructure projects, and driving sustainable innovation, reinforcing its role as a catalyst for the UAE’s economic diversification and global aviation leadership ambitions.
