Coming in the wake of Rosewood Hotel Group’s news of its Asian expansion, with the launch of four new properties to open within the next six years, earlier this week, the Hong Kong based company has also announced a key hire for another of its new hotel – the Rosewood Bangkok (main image).
The announcement sees industry veteran Thomas Harlander, appointed as managing director of Rosewood Bangkok, slated for opening by the end of this year. Harlander will bring more than 18 years’ of experience of the luxury hospitality industry to the role and will oversee all aspects of the new “ultra-luxury hotel”, located in a prime location within Bangkok’s central business district along Ploenchit Road, within an enclave encompassing embassies, new residential towers, offices and upscale retail.
Born and raised in Germany, Harlander entered the hotel industry following his graduation from Simon-Knoll-School in Munich, Germany with a Bachelor of Arts degree in hotel management. From there Harlander embarked on a career which has taken him around the world, as he plied his trade of providing luxury hospitality experience in key gateway cities such as London, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Tokyo and most recently Seoul where he was general manager of the Park Hyatt hotel.
Prior to joining Rosewood, his career extended throughout the Park Hyatt brand where he held hotel general manager and senior food and beverage management roles across six cities.
Rosewood Hotel Group is made up of four different brands: ultra-luxury Rosewood Hotels & Resorts in North America, Caribbean/Atlantic, Europe, the Middle East and Asia; contemporary deluxe New World Hotels & Resorts in China and Southeast Asia; neighbourhood lifestyle Penta hotels in Europe and Asia; and KHOS, a global business lifestyle hotel brand.
