Regent Phu Quoc is proud to announce the opening of its latest art exhibition, ‘Pursuing Fantasia – Journey to The Enchanted Island’ a captivating showcase of contemporary Vietnamese art. This exhibition, a unique dialogue between the lacquer sculpture of Lamphong Studio and the silk painting of Nguyễn Minh Quân, will open on 9 April and run through to September 2025 at the Regent Phu Quoc Gallery.
Curated by the esteemed Vietnamese art curator ChuKim, ‘Pursuing Fantasia – Journey to The Enchanted Island’ invites viewers on a journey through a fictional space where visual art opens new horizons. The “enchanted island”, as depicted in the name of the gallery showing implies a direction towards Phú Quốc, known for its immense natural beauty and rich experiences.
“Journey” references not just a physical trip in this direction, instead encouraging an inner exploration – where the world of beauty and the surreal intertwine in personal experience. As viewers delve deeper into the exhibition space, they also enter a dialogue with themselves – between the real and the virtual, between the familiar and the strange.
Curator ChuKim shares, “This exhibition is not just a journey through existing landscapes but also a voyage into the depths of thought and emotion. The exhibition evokes a dialogue between Vietnamese lacquer sculpture and silk painting, where flat art and spatial art blend in the same breath of fantasy. The artists’ creations invite viewers to explore a world where the boundary between reality and dreams becomes more fragile than ever.”
“At Regent Phu Quoc, we believe in creating enriching experiences that go beyond a typical resort experience. This exhibition, Pursuing Fantasia – Journey to The Enchanted Island is our commitment to showcasing the vibrant talent of Vietnamese artists. We aim to provide our guests with authentic cultural encounters, highlighting the depth and diversity of Vietnam’s artistic heritage.” said Regent Phu Quoc General Manager Sriram Kailasam.
