Regent Seven Seas Cruises®, the world’s premier luxury ocean cruise company, and Fabergé, the world’s most recognised jewellery Maison, have teamed to offer two new Spotlight Voyages. With small group master-class activities, exclusive access to unique and intimate shore-side tours, jewelled egg displays, and intriguing talks and movies, the two special sailings will immerse visitors in the world of Fabergé.
There is also the opportunity to schedule a pre-cruise land programme in London, which includes a visit to the Fabergé headquarters, an exclusive shopping experience at Harrods, a private viewing of the royal pictures at Westminster Abbey, and other activities.
The two spotlight sailings, both hosted by the highest authorities on the Fabergé story, will be on the new ship Seven Seas Grandeur’s July 1, 2024, 10-night sailing around the Mediterranean, hosted by Sarah Fabergé, and on the Seven Seas Splendor’s® June 13, 2023, 10-night sailing through Northern Europe, hosted by Archduke Dr Géza von Habsburg.
“We pride ourselves on offering our guests immersive and culturally enlightening itineraries as well as enriching onboard programming,” said the President of Regent Seven Seas Cruises, {Andrea DeMarco.
“We are excited to reveal details about our first of two Spotlight on Fabergé sailings, inspired by the allure of the world-renowned Fabergé Maison. Guests will uncover the rich culture and history of the revered brand, enjoying an unforgettable, unrivalled experience that they know to expect from Regent.”
“We are delighted to be able to join Regent aboard their beautiful ships and are very much looking forward to showcasing some of the most enthralling details from Fabergé’s story,” said Josina von dem Bussche-Kessell, Creative Director at Fabergé. “We have put together a captivating program, which will offer unique behind-the-scenes insights into the art of bespoke jewellery design, Fabergé’s cultured history and royal connections, and showcase a selection of treasures from our current collections.”
The Spotlight on Fabergé sailings was created to commemorate the bespoke, hand-crafted Journey in Jewels egg object – the first Fabergé egg to reside permanently at sea – and will be the centrepiece of the dazzling art collection aboard the new Seven Seas Grandeur, which will set sail in November 2023.
Archduke Dr Géza von Habsburg, Fabergé’s Curatorial Director and member of the Fabergé Heritage Council, will conduct the inaugural Spotlight on Fabergé sailing. As Director of the Fabergé Arts Foundation, Dr. von Habsburg has organised several major exhibits worldwide.
Guests can purchase a unique pre-cruise experience in London before the first Spotlight on Fabergé journey departs from London (Southampton), England, on June 13, 2023. The two-night land programme will immerse discriminating visitors in the world of Fabergé, beginning with a visit to the Maison’s headquarters and a special greeting by Artistic Director Josina von dem Bussche-Kessell, who will show some rare and one-of-a-kind works.
There will also be the opportunity to hold and examine some of Fabergé’s loose gemstones, obtained directly from the world’s greatest emerald and ruby mines. After the expedition, there will be a visit to Harrods and an exclusive lunch in Mayfair. Visitors will also have a private tour of Westminster Abbey with Baroness Penny Mountbatten, who represents royal portrait artist Ralph Heimans, whose painting of the late Queen Elizabeth II is on exhibit at the Abbey.
Guests will cruise the North Sea, stopping at Kristiansand, Norway; Copenhagen, Denmark; Gothenburg, Sweden, and Kiel, Germany, before sailing across the Baltic Sea to Tallinn, Estonia, and Helsinki, Finland, before disembarking in Stockholm, Sweden.
Regent guests may choose from a comprehensive variety of culturally rich programmes for limitless included shore excursions. In Copenhagen, visitors can join Dr. von Habsburg on a trip to Amalienborg to explore the Royal Danish Collection before visiting the ancient Rosenborg Palace. While in town, Dr. von Habsburg will host a private dinner in Kiel, a charming German harbour town.
Regent’s Spotlight Voyages allow passengers to pursue their hobbies through various onboard activities. Dr. von Habsburg will recount the history of Fabergé, while masterclasses will cover some interesting production methods, detailing aspects of Fabergé’s unique pieces and collections.
Guests will also learn about Fabergé’s signature enamel process, which brings to life some of the house’s most unique creations and what inspired iconic egg objects, before browsing a pop-up Fabergé boutique for a special purchase or commissioning unique pieces to be created by Fabergé London.
Sarah Fabergé will conduct the second Spotlight on Fabergé cruise on board Regent’s newest ship, Seven Seas Grandeur, on July 1, 2024. Sarah Fabergé, the great-granddaughter of Peter Carl Fabergé and the Head of Special Projects at Fabergé, is a founding member of the Fabergé Heritage Council.
The 10-night voyage will leave Rome (Civitavecchia) and cruise the Mediterranean, stopping at Salerno, Italy, Taormina, Sicily, Valletta, Malta, Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, Spain, Provence (Marseille), and Antibes, France before concluding in Monte Carlo.
