The Thailand Travel Mart (TTM) will see a record turnout when it returns to Chiang Mai in June.
The trade show, which is officially known as the “Thailand Travel Mart Plus Amazing Gateway to the Greater Mekong Subregion”, will take place at the Chiang Mai International Exhibition & Convention Centre (CMECC) from 14-16 June 2017, marking the second consecutive year it has been held outside Bangkok.
And organisers have already confirmed registration from 480 buyers from 64 countries and 354 sellers from Thailand and the Mekong region. This marks the highest turnout in the event’s history, well above the 440 buyers registered in 2008 and 342 sellers recorded in 2016.
The sellers mainly comprise hotels and resorts (272), but tour operators, entertainment companies, associations, NTOs, transport operators and other travel services will also be represented.
“This is a clear indication of the high level of interest in Thailand and northern Thailand in particular. We are now finalising some very interesting events, activities and tours for the buyers which I am sure will go a long way towards helping them better promote Chiang Mai and northern Thailand to their clients,” said Yuthasak Supasorn, governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).
This year’s TTM, which will be the event’s 16th edition, will be held under the theme “Delivering Unique Experiences”. The event will open at 1.30pm on 14 June, with a welcome reception being held that evening. A “Lanna Night” reception will be hosted on 15 June, and the show will close with a “Thank You Party” on 16 June.
