Qatar Airways has replaced Emirates as Formula One’s new global airline partner, with an agreement in place until 2027.
But what does this mean? The airline will support three Grand Prix events in 2023, including the Hungarian Grand Prix, the “Gran Premio del Made in Italy e dell ‘Emilia-Romagna” in Italy, and Qatar (which is returning to the Formula One calendar).
In addition to the opportunities for brand exposure that the agreement offers, Qatar Airways will also provide the following:
- Several special travel packages will enable motorsports fans to buy round-trip tickets.
- On-site tickets to watch the races live.
- A variety of other hospitality options and Formula One-related activities.
The two partners have also said that they want to collaborate in the quest to reduce their carbon impact on the environment. The statement specifically emphasised the dedication to renewable fuels, which both organisations have already used in limited amounts.
It should not be surprising that Formula One and aviation have always had a tight relationship, given that it is a global sport with demanding logistics.
Red Bull’s two racing teams are an example of a team that owns or runs its planes, although other teams and drivers have long-standing relationships with executive jet operators.
For instance, Ferrari and VistaJet extended their long-standing collaboration agreement on 22 February 2023.
