I am a Canadian presently residing in Koh Samui, Thailand. I have worked in the hospitality industry all my life with experiences that include fine dining restaurants, five- star hotels, island resorts, private mega yachts and private estates. I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in International Hotel Management in Sept 2012. I completed my Master’s Degree in Tourism Management in Nov 2015 (with honours). Both hospitality degrees were obtained at Royal Roads University, Canada. Accreditation can be corroborated at (www.royalroads.ca).
Along with a well-known chef, I conceptualized and opened a new restaurant on Koh Samui on Sept 3rd, 2019. During my prior position as a general manager, I upgraded the resort TripAdvisor rating from #28 to number #5 in Chaweng, Koh Samui within a 12-month period based on guest reviews. Through the employment of social media marketing, revenue management strategies and guest service management, resort yields increased in the first fiscal year of my employment. I was able to create an educated multi- cultural team and improve efficiency regarding policies and procedures. The resort also won several awards while under my direction.
I am passionate about the hospitality industry. There is a spring in my step and I always hit the ground running. As a manager, I would never ask someone to perform a duty I was not willing to do myself and I have the ability to lead by example because I have performed most front-end jobs personally throughout my career in hospitality. My management framework begins with determining your short-term and long-term goals and addressing your three biggest challenges. I am an expert at dealing with guest complaints.
I am a personally involved, visible and proactive leader with excellent organizational skills, capable of providing focused direction and continuing to establish the property’s prominent position within the market. I possess a well-developed capability for strategic decision-making and a track record of proven results in the areas of customer satisfaction, operational excellence, host satisfaction, revenue and profit.
