The Phuket Hotels Association and C9 Hotelworks confirmed the final lineup of speakers and moderators for the 2024 edition of Mind the Gap: Women and Diversity in Hospitality.
Organisers announced that Dragonfly 360 founder Pranapda Phornprapha Chirathivat takes to the stage at the event, speaking on The Power of Transforming Lives Through Simple Actions which reflects the ethos behind her platform’s drive to promote gender equality in Asia.
Through Dragonfly 360, Chirathivat tells the stories of courageous individuals at the forefront of social, economic, and cultural change, the ones breaking barriers that women encounter in every aspect of life, work and business.
Chirathivat said: “I am excited to join Mind the Gap, which focuses on a subject that is very close to my heart. Throughout my career in the music, fashion, and automotive sectors, I have witnessed and experienced the challenges that so many women face. I look forward to meeting other like-minded people as we strive to empower women to shatter the glass ceiling and maximise their incredible potential.
This year’s run of Mind the Gap is slated for 31st August at the Similan Ballroom of SAii Laguna Phuket.
Moderators and panellists
Aside from Chirathivat, organisers also announced the inclusion of two notable moderators for the event. These are C9 Hotelworks’ deputy managing director Viona Zhang and Phuket Hotels Association senior advisor Sumi Soorian.
Both moderators combine tact and expertise to guide discussions whilst gleaning vital information from participants through various activities that include a panel discussion led by Emma Gray.
Gray’s panel features points of view from three highly successful female leaders in the restaurant industry. Panellists for the discussion are Earth House Bangkok founder Samantha Haberli; Tops Wine Cellar’s wine training manager and sommelier Atchara Wongthai Palleros; and Tipaporn Phianthong, corporate chef at Banyan Group Worldwide’s speciality restaurant Saffron.
Australian consul-general Kristen Fletcher lauded the event’s focus on gender diversity in the 21st century workplace.
Fletcher said: “Empowering women and embracing diversity isn’t just about making a difference in the industry—it’s about transforming it. When we lift each other up and champion inclusivity, we don’t just open doors; we build bridges to a brighter, more innovative future for everyone in hospitality.”
